Hey guys so I have a 6 speed manual taco and I have no problem driving it. How ever my wife wants to drive it from time to time, she’s 5”1 and can reach the pedals but she has to max out the seats adjustment forward. When ever she does this though her knees are hitting the plastic lower trim making it hard to shift. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Sounds like a great way to keep the wife out of the drivers seat. I'd be fine with it.

They make blocks for that exact problem. Not sure if having them easy to put on and remove has been addressed though.

Certainly wouldn't want the block on the brake pedal to pop off or come loose while driving.

Sketchy AF if you ask me. Unless this is just a joke that I didn't get lol.

OP, how straight is her leg when the clutch is all the way in? If she still has a decent bend in her leg she can scoot the seat back a couple clicks. It feels weird to some people right at first but you get used to it. Otherwise I wouldn't have her driving your truck, she's got exceptionally short legs.

They're designed for people with mobility restrictions and the good ones are fully legal. It wasn't a joke. Obviously, the easy answer is to say don't let her drive the truck, but there aren't really many options based on what OP stated he would/would not do.

Oh ok. I think I would modify it so it was bolted to the pedal somehow, but in this case those could be the answer. Just wonder what would happen in a wreck or something.

Googled "Short people driving pedal extenders" got lots of results including some from forums. While not common, this problem has to be out there.

I don’t know what the clutch pedal is like on a Taco, but this is what it’s like on my RX8. Even though I’m 6’, I still have to move the seat forward a couple clicks to reach the bottom of the clutch travel. I have strongly considered either welding another pad on the pedal or doing lots of adjusting on the pedal adjustments, however, it would take some work to figure out the upper and lower stop points so the travel remains the same.

Yeah my biggest issue is her taking the blunt force of the airbag being so close if she ever was in an accident

Yeah I never thought about that. That is a legitimate concern.

Yeah, that'd be the safest option as long as her car is in good working order. I daily drive my Tacoma and the only real con is the fuel mileage.

I have a delrin block bolted to my clutch pedal with hex head screws in the face. The pedal positions on this truck are all out of whack as delivered. You should also consider seat spacers to raise the seat, unless that would create a problem for other drivers. In the stock seating position she could get hurt if the airbag deploys.

This problem should be a blessing to you. Honey I’m sorry, it’s not possible to drive my truck.
