Ended the season with a double! Tagged out and these two are being donated to a co-worker. And after the morning hunt I went for a walk and came out with 7 sheds in about 30 minutes, including one side of the big 12 point (last year’s shed). Was a great day indeed

should have bought my jerky cutting board ;) I made some jerky I just thinly sliced lengthwise, and cut into longer strips. works great.

Venison shank adobada, in the slow cooker for about 5 hours. Highly recommend. I've made this twice now. This time I added more honey, a bit of brown sugar, and jarred jalapeños. Fucking delicious

Also, went to check cameras yesterday and there was a snake at the base of the tree at one of my cameras. It was 35°.

And why is his head still attached? I can't stand snakes, I don't care what kind they are.

Anybody know what kind it is? I'm not well versed in dangerous vs non-dangerous snakes.

Got a new skinning knife for next season. I am hoping this will be in the family a long time.

Just a little black snake. Harmless. And will keep the copperheads and rattlesnakes at bay. Still scared the shit out of me when I almost stepped on him.

the venomous snake is a little misleading, a cotton mouth and a coral snake are both venomous and dont have rattles (the coral snake isnt a pit viper so it doesnt have pits if i recall correctly) and some non venomous snakes like a python have triangular heads and also have heat pits, but for the most part that is pretty solid advise

coral snakes look like they have round pupils too and they are actually fangless; they have to kinda chew their venom into things... but if they do it is some nasty stuff, neurotoxins like a rattles snake but quite a bit more potent... we have them in south alabama but none up here
