Installed my subi tweeters Kicker speakers . All I have to say is WOW !! Stupid amazing in sound .Not sure but it gave me more sound also out of the door speakers .not 100% sure if the stock ones were draining the power out of them to make them sound like s&!^ . But 100% happy with this inexpensive upgrade not even sure I want to add a sub anymore lol .

These are just the Subaru tweeters you installed? What were the kickers you put in?

Are these Kicker tweeters the only aftermarket tweeters for the 3rd gen Tacoma? I haven't had any luck finding any other out there that aren't $90+.

I do not know for sure what else is out there but it will likely be a universal part. The nice part of these are that they are direct plug and play. No modifications required

I have a pair in my Amazon cart, but aint bought them yet.

Do just the tweeters alone really make that much difference? My non JBL system just isn't as loud as I'd like it sometimes.

Probably due to the shitty MP3 quality of most of the songs on my flash drive.

From what I have heard it is a great upgrade. As my truck is brand new I plan on starting with the tweeters and then I will add a sub. I will then replace the rest of the speakers. I am non JBL as well and laugh when Toyota calls it premium audio. I however don't care as I plan to upgrade anyways. Upgrading real premium audio such as JBL, Rockford, Bose etc. is only more expensive and complex.

im no audiophile but how does a tweeter upgrade make you not want a sub anymore? isnt that in a completely different frequency range?

The subaru tweeter are a great upgrade! The speakers Toyota put in these trucks are just downright sad, my 96' Integra had a better factory sound system than we get:rofl:

You'll only notice it at higher volume levels and even then it's a nice upgrade, not a 'holy shit this is unreal' upgrade. Moderately, they don't make that much of a difference. The real weak point are the door speakers, especially the rears which seem to have very little sound coming out of them at any volume level.

I noticed this with the rear speakers. So weak I honestly thought the settings were messed with and were 75% front 25% rear or something.

Did you have to disconnect the battery for the install?

I’m no audiophile, but the tweeters were a pretty large improvement over stock themselves. You’ll get a lot crisper highs and vocals will sound much clearer

I liked what I heard so I ended up installing kicker cs speakers in the doors as well. I also added some sound deadening in the doors too. Initially, I was a bit underwhelmed with the door speaker upgrades. It further improved the clarity of the highs and mids a bit, but the mids and lows were noticeably lacking power, especially with the volume turned up

So then I installed the kicker key 200.4 amp and I’ve been really impressed with the sound quality ever since. The stock head unit barely delivers any power to the rear speakers. The key helps with this power imbalance while also adding a lot more punch to the mids and lows. The tweeters sent me down this rabbit hole but I’m pretty happy with my setup now

Literally just got back inside from installing my tweeters! They sound great!! Still don't have the sound clarity I'm looking for. I already installed the CS series door speakers on the front and back. I noticed you did the same thing just I dont have the Kicker Key Amp. How much difference does that make sound clarity wise? Easy install?

Nice! I agree, the tweeters sound great

Honestly, I though the clarity of the highs and mids were quite good after the tweeters and kicker CS install. that's how I judge clarity, but I guess this is subjective and I'm not an audiophile by any means.

my issue after the tweeter and kicker cs install was the mids and bass lacked power, especially when I turned up the volume. the amp helped bring out a lot more detail in the mids and low end and also helped reduce the power imbalance between the front and rear speakers (the rears hardly have any sound coming out of them with the stock HU). the highs might sound a little crisper, but it's not too noticeable of a difference from before. overall, the sound is a lot more balanced and enjoyable to listen to, especially when the volume is turned up

here's a really great thread that I followed to install the amp. it requires a bit of wiring work to build a harness that connects the amp to the head unit. but I have zero wiring knowledge or experience and was able to figure it out so it must not be too bad!
