Since I now have a truck I plan to do more outdoor stuff. Do yal prefer a dometic or a yeti cooler? I would like to do some multi-day camping and maybe a week out in the woods throughout the year. In addition, for the people who have a dometic what size cooler do you own and where is it placed in your taco? Appreciate all of the help and advice.

Dometic CFX50w always mounted in the bed of the truck..

I used to have a RTIC 65 cooler, but got tired of getting ice.

Fridge for sure. Done multi day trips with a yeti and the space used by ice takes away from chilled beverages and food. Plus all the water you have to drain.

A week out in the woods? The cooler won’t even be cold anymore in the summer.

Thank you all for the advice. I have a bakflip tonneau cover will the CFX 50w fit under it or do I need to go smaller?

Yeah the fridge is a good call, especially with the space all the ice takes up

The CFX 50 won’t fit under a tonneau cover. I’ve been looking at the CFX 35, it will slide under there.

Same. Love the side open on the lid and being able to flip it to either side

Yeah its so nice. I usually just leave my back window rolled down so I can go in and out of the fridge without opening the door.

Fridge all the way. I run a small 18L Dometic off of a 33aH Goal Zero Yeti 400 chained with a second 33ah battery. Two solar panels, one 100w fixed and one 80W portable. Fridge and Goal Zero ride in the back seat while on the move, get moved to the camper when I'm parked for the night.

I've got the dual-zone Whynter fridge and have been very happy with it. A bit heavy to move around when full of food/drinks but that's not that big of a deal. I keep mine in the bed but I only keep it there while on trips, not full time.

Fridge would be nice, but I use a RTIC 65. Usually spin by the Harris Teeter and pick up some dry ice and combine that will regular ice to keep it cold if not freezing in there for a long weekend.
Coolers can be a pain in the ass, but I haven't had a need (yet) to go with a fridge setup even on longer trips.

I have multiple Yetis and went to the CFX75 dual zone for my family of 4. Waaaay better setup and actually has enough room to store both a substantial amount of fresh foods and drinks. Definitely worth it over my Yetis. Make sure you plan out your power system and a way to recharge if static camping for more than 1 night. I can say ive ran the 75 just of 1 standalone deep cycle for 4 days before it hit low voltage alarms.

For longer trips definitely a fridge if you can afford it and power it, especially if you have a family and need to carry more food. Not having to worry about stuff getting wet is a really nice side feature. For weekend trips by myself I still use a cooler a lot since it's smaller. I just freeze a block of ice beforehand or swing by the local ice distributor and get a block of dry ice (obviously be careful handling it).

Not a fan of Yeti products, you can get good coolers without the name for less.

Have used Yeti coolers for years. Just switched over to an ARB 50 fridge, wow. Nice not dealing with ice anymore.
