Beware of Toyota of San Luis Obispo, CA. service dept. They are dishonest.
Brought my truck in for the 20,000 service. Asked them to make sure they inspect and fill the differential, transfer case, and transmission fluids. To make sure they perform the work I painted the fill plugs with bright nail polish. When I got the vehicle back, the nail polish wasn't cracked or chipped, No wrench ever touched them, and also lied about rotating the tires too. Yet they claimed on my receipt the work was performed. Keep that in mind when you have your vehicle serviced at Toyota of San Luis Obispo. I wonder if any of the required service was done.
I even went so far to type a letter for the tech stating that I can and will check the work, told the service writer the same, and still they failed to perform the work they claimed to do.
And I thought I was kinda being a jerk to act this way when I dropped off my truck. Ha!
Who knows how to get a hold of the Toyota Corp in charge of service work?82521153_10219249886550843_579185170318360576_o.jpg 82603123_10219249886150833_9009148276540178432_o.jpg 83164513_10219249886910852_1432479147787026432_o.jpg

Not surprised in the slightest. I haven't returned to the dealer after the first service.

Damn, dude. If you haven't already, send that shit to corporate. Not because I think it'll accomplish much in the short term, but at least make sure they have a record of it and it's documented, if any of those systems have issues after the warranty period you have this in your back pocket.

What made you suspicious enough to paint the plugs in the first place?

Everything I can find doesn't say anything about inspecting trans or diff fluid levels at 20k, but 25k

I can't find the outrage. I won't dog pile in. I don't know the other side of the story. I can't be the jury. This isn't my fight.

Sorry dude. Not surprised though. I do all my own service work b/c of crap like this. My buddy worked for a Caddy dealership. When they fired a tech they found piles of gaskets on the floor where his toolbox sat.

They were part of warranty replacement and he was paid for changing them.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Does not surprise me one bit. I just bought my Taco 2 months ago, and don’t plan on wasting my time with their free “oil changes” and “inspections”. I’ll happily do them myself and they’ll be done right.

It wouldn't have been covered by Toyotacare and I bet if they wanted to charge for the labor the OP would still be complaining.

I'd love to see the service write up with the customer request.

I didn't think they did anything on the 10K service, but did't have solid proof. Now I do.

Dealerships suck. Underpaid, revolving door, horrible culture at all dealers of every make.

A year ago I took my truck in for 7500 mile service (only tire rotation). Service guy had sausage fingers, missed a key, and they performed 20k mile service. Now if I try to go to another dealer, they can't service it free, because the system shows my 20k was completed. I need to call corporate. /rant.
