Anybody know anything about the Lake Havasu area? Got a mountain bike race on Feb 8 and I was thinking of camping. Are there cool spots to camp nearby? Ive never been to Havasu.

Not bad. Gets a little wacky in wintertime and it's this odd mix of well off retirees downsized to a modest house, and trailer trash impressed that the shitter is in the house now.

That said the market value estimate on the house has gone up 20K since I bought it. It's economical, quiet, and generally pretty pleasant.

I hate apartments. Every fucking year they try to jack my rent up $250 and I fight them. It seems insane. Especially when I can go down the street and pay less.

paying off the truck in the next 6 months then it’s time to save for a house. So dumb. You would think that they would want to incentivize the good residents that are quiet and pay on time.

I wish. I don’t want to buy a house until I pay off my truck. Pushing had to do that in the next 6 months. Then I’ll start saving for a down payment haha.

I have a system from Eco Water. They are the ones sold by the front door at Costco and I love the system. We went big and got the RO system as well. It's hard to go back to bottled water the water tastes so good. They're not cheap, but I wouldn't do it differently. The softener is very efficient and the salt lasts a long time. @Chipskip has one too. I believe he's happy with it as well.

I have the one @llibrm mentioned, Love it. Same one Costco sales but with a different vendor (I don't love Parker and Son's who Costco uses). Ecowater will give you the Costco discount, but instead of a Costco gift card, they just take the rebate off the price. Very clean install, they put it anywhere you want it. I do not have the RO system, I don't mind the taste of city water and didn't want to pay the extra for it. Not worth it to me, but to each their own.

My uncle sells and services Water Softeners systems as his sole business. He's been using Ultima products for 15+ years and they are great. I've had one in everywhere I've lived, makes a huge difference in the condition of your faucets/showers/sinks etc.. and like @llibrm br said the R.O. water is definitely better than bottled and saves you a bunch of money/hassle in the long run. Doesn't seem like you would, but you'll quickly begin to notice the difference in taste/quality of water everywhere you go.

If you want my uncle's info PM me, he doesn't have a website. He's just an old school small business owner, but he has 1,000+ customers in the valley and he's very honest and reasonable. Also, I worked with him for a while as a side gig and can probably answer any other questions for you. At first it may be hard to justify the expense, but once you have it you quickly understand the benefits.

Here's a program you may not know exists and is pretty sweet: look up "Arizona Down Payment Assistance" - specifically the "Home Plus" program. As long as your credit score is 640+, your annual income is less than $105k, and the house purchase price is less than $396k, you qualify for the program. They'll give you up to 5% of the mortgage loan to use as the down payment. As long as the house is your primary residence for three years, none of the funds will have to be repaid. The only downside is your mortgage interest rate will typically be one point higher than the going rate.

I have been in the mortgage business for a very long time and @Rustymofo is 100% correct with this program. There is also many other programs/options out there to help get people into their first home without needing a ton of money down. This is an extremely common misconception that many people have.

Basically. One day you wake up and you realize you're excited about toasters and vacuums.:burp:

And you still have to do the yard work anyways, what the hell.

Random question. Our health insurance company crossed my wife's account with another person with the same name and DOB, but lives in another state nowhere near Az. I called insurance and they found out for 2 years now the accounts have been crossed. We've been paying (with our insurance) for her medication which is $2,095 a refill for 2 years. Insurance said it was no biggie and they'll have it fixed in a few weeks. This other lady is paying for my wife's meds which are $9 a month. My wife is able to see her history of medication and this other lady is able to see my wife's history of medication. My file isn't even found in their database even though I just filled my meds last week. It's a total cluster fuck.

What would you do? Let them fix it? Bitch up the corporate ladder? Call a lawyer? Something else?

Not a lawyer, but you should be at least entitled to any extra charges you paid, or fully prepared to pay if you owe anything.

If you have access to this other persons medical records, this is likely a HIPPA violation, though I don’t think there is much to gain from suing over something like this. If you can, start compiling your records of how much you paid out over the last two years, what records you can see for this other person. Take screen shots or make secure backups.

I’d wait to see what they come back with in a few weeks. Keep the HIPPA violation in your back pocket until then.
