it looks fairly decent but will most likely need to be spot repaired and cleaned up like i have to do with mine

and yet another truck that had NO undercoat underneath the cab floorpan to reduce road noise... am i the only one that had that done :notsure:

    thanks for those pics!

@Hapeacres that frame looks great. If it’s been a Texas truck away from the coast area I wouldn’t be worried at all about rust with the photos he provided. Request some photos of the rear frame rails though too.

You wont find a truck that old with a frame any nicer than that

oops, it looks like i did not mention in the post, its CF RC 3000 i recently got from Canada
its probably not bulletproof either in extreme conditions, i had applied it with a spray gun in my door sills and when we had 2 inches of heavy rain one night a heavy application just washed right on out the door

Oh right! We discussed this before. I haven't had enough coffee yet.

I'm also trying Corrosion Free for the first time this winter. Hoping for the best.

No way? Discussed it before? You sure?
Rust treatment ends up a topic discussed in almost every thread in first gen section because of......
It's a shame we can't start our own threads and discuss it instead of going into everyone's elses different threads and seeing rust being brought up.... Oh wait we can do that?

i just called the customer support for them to get some questions answered on what i recently experienced with the door jam situation and some other body panels i had applied it too.
i was not able to see the heavy application with my naked eye anymore but when i went to hand wash with a sponge and soap it felt like something was grabbing onto my sponge, i.e. not a smooth wash
she told me that was the product still on there but not visible. The soap and sponge were taking it off the paint, which is the best way to remove it after winter she said

its also better and more easily applied with the spray gun in temps warmer than 40 F

My guy uses this PFC product on the frame, its lanolin based like fluid film but it's at least twice as thick so it holds up much longer. Fluid film inside all the panels because the thinner product atomizes better.

As much as I love this truck I think I am better off with my original plan of finding a rust free GX470. I love that V8 engine and like the extra towing power for my boat. Thanks to those who posted about rusting question.

This chassis and frame and running gear look great man. Hard to find frames like that, great find. If you pass on it, may want to share the seller's info here. I'm sure it'd sell real quick with the chassis as rust free and clean as it is

my view, from just the pics, is that its perhaps ok if it stays south of the severe winter line, and probably the east coast by the ocean, although i don't know that climate all that well
its already showing rusting in numerous spots indicating an extremely weak & decayed frame coating, even in TX go figure
any prolonged amount of exposure to the chemicals they use on roads at its age and decay may not be the best until repairs or workarounds are made
just in case @Emmetjmcc4 has his eye on this tacoma and swap out MT into it
