    None... yet.
It's the only thing that really makes sense to me. I've had moments reading some of the third-gen bitchfests where I've been like, "uh... did I buy a different truck? Where the hell am I?" But then I remember: no, I've just been driving trucks for a while. So all the little frustrations I experienced with a cheap shitbox beater a decade ago these people are experiencing with a brand-new thing they spent $35k ok. I don't expect to outrun even my wife's Subaru from a stoplight. I don't expect to break 20 MPG when it's hauling a bed full of heavy shit. I expected a truck... just one that'll handle itself offroad better than most of the competition, and one that'll still be running a hell of a lot better and worth a hell of a lot more in 20 years than other trucks of the same vintage. Nothing more, nothing less.

:hattip:Thanks! Also can I just say that I don't want to admit how long I've been sitting here watching your signature. Enhance, dammit!

What dealer added X-tra's did it have on it? $8,000 spacer lift, $5,000 tire and wheel package. And a set of $1,500 nerf bars?
Oh and I forgot the $1,700 bed cover.

Old Rangers or new Rangers? I would never choose a Ranger over my Tacoma, but the 2011 and older Rangers were genuinely good trucks in my opinion. The new Rangers have no character and I believe they've already started having reliability issues, plus they're only available in automatic!

Good point. The older rangers are a good looking off-road alternative. I loved some of the trucks i came across 10+ years ago. Not from a reliability standpoint, but the functionality was there.

I almost ended up with a 2009 Ford Ranger XLT a little over a decade ago...

My dad wanted a basic regular cab truck with A/C, CD player, and almost nothing else. Only the 2009-2010 Ford Ranger and 2009-2010 Tacoma met those requirements, especially the regular cab part! By September 2009, when this search took place, all of the '09 Tacomas (at least the base models) had been bought up during Cash For Clunkers and only 2010 models were available. The Ranger was severely outdated by 2010, and people were not snapping them up like they were Tacomas.

This dealership in Langhorne, Pennsylvania (formerly McCafferty until it was bought out by Fred Beans a couple years ago) had the most beautiful 2009 Ford Ranger XLT regular cab 2WD with the 2.3L 4-cyl. and automatic transmission, in red with a gray interior; The truck was obviously a special order that somebody decided they didn't want, because it was LOADED! Whoever ordered the truck got every option you could possibly get; chrome wheels, A/C, cruise, tilt, power windows, power locks, CD player with AUX input! It was a short bed (which looks better than the long bed in my opinion), and while whoever ordered it opted for the automatic transmission, they stuck with the underpowered standard 4-banger. My dad took it for a test drive; I only had my learner's permit at the time so I had to settle for riding shotgun. I believe the asking price of that truck was almost twenty grand; My dad was ready to buy the Ranger that day, but couldn't get the dealer down to $17K like he wanted.

I had my heart set on that Ranger, but then my dad did more research and encouraged me to as well. I found that while the Taco RC was not available with power windows and locks, it was an all around better truck because the interior was larger and it had safety features that the Ranger lacked like traction control and side curtain airbags.

On September 30th of 2009, my dad bought the Taco that I currently still have; Almost 110K miles later, I'm glad I got the Taco instead of the Ranger. My biggest initial complaint was that even the cheapest, no-frills Ranger in 2010 had intermittent wipers while truck did not; However, I have since added intermittent wipers to my truck and gotten over it!

Love my 3rd gen taco, Coming from a 2000 Jeep XJ. My taco is superior in many different ways. I came into it knowing that its not going to be fast or powerful. What I love about my 3rd gen and why I continue to drive it is for the off-road capabilities. Granted I have lifted it, fixed it with a tune, and soon gears, and of course larger tires. But, even before the tune with just the lift I was going new places, deep into the back country away from all the instagram fools posing in front of their overbuilt rigs. The crawl control really does help calm the nerves when faced with a nasty climb or slippery decent. It has inspired confidence with my wife and she is now more willing to go on adventures with me. I no longer get to call them "my adventures". I can now call them our adventures that I get to share with my spouse and kids. So, that is why I love my 3rd gen tacoma. Statistically speaking my vote should not really count because I have never owned a 1st or 2nd gen Taco.

I had a 1st gen 6 years ago and it was awesome! But I love my second gen even more! I find it AMAZING that I can load it up to go hunting, have a little fun on our private off-road trails going fast over bumps, doing donuts, and taking it down technical trails. Then the very next day, take it on a 15 hour road trip without doing anything to it (other than checking oil level and tire pressure) and being completely comfortable for those 15 hours while getting 19mpg. Then take it BACK on a 15 hour road trip the day after that, arriving home, and going to work the next day in a suit and tie without doing anything to it or worrying about anything breaking down. It does everything well and I love it! Plus I think mine is the best looking one I’ve seen
