my truck..100% it sticks to the pan.

no biggie except i have gotten lazy. i dont even put my truck on ramps anymore. i just shimmy under and reach out to the plug. i cant get my fat head under to look for the gasket. i bring my ratchet and socket and a old vintage scraper to pop off the gasket.

i imagine forgetting the stuck gasket and stacking another one on top could be disastrous.

this was no big deal in the past, but oddly my eyes are getting weak and now i need reading glasses....seeing clearly under a truck is not happening. ha...getting old is not for the feeble.

Oh......the thing that sticks to the oil pan for about 3 seconds then falls off into the oil and you have to go diving for? :D

I've done all my own oil changes since owning the vehicle (4K), up to 61K; the (original?) gasket has remained attached to the pan the entire time, no problem/leakage so far.

I'm at 96K miles and change oil every 5K. Still using the OEM crush washer, no leaks yet.

Oh btw it almost always stays with the drain plug, not stuck to the pan.

My OEM crush washer sticks to the pan 90% of the time. I've have a old 1 foot long PVC pipe that I wedge next to it and tap with my socket. I always find the old washer to verify it came off before putting a fresh one on. I tighten it to 25 ft/lbs.

Well..... ya got me there. I own a torque wrench but just about the only thing I use it for is lug nuts when I rotate the tires (at every 5K oil change).
Pretty much everything else is by the Old Fart method -- snug it, then snug it just a bit more. Hasn't failed me yet.....

I have a magnetic drain plug that came with five washers. Changed oil a few weeks ago and thought the drain opening looked strange like it had a stuck washer. I tapped it hard with a screwdriver but it didn't move so I installed the bolt. No leaks

I’m at like 107,000 and have always used the original washer. Just recently noticed a very small slow drip. Nothing to worry about until next oil change. I ordered a pack of these and will probably only need a couple of them for the rest of the trucks life lol.

mine always sticks to the drain plug too.
