Ive searched the forum about this but havent found anything.

So i got my ABC today and got everything installed. Does anyone here got a camera with lights on it? my camera came with lights on it and not sure how to turn it off, theres no extra wire dangling around or something. Any help? Fix? Work around?
I unplug the camera harness for now because of the lights. I emailed ABC but i guess im not getting any response til tomorrow.

If you plug in the video cable does it go off? Does it switch when you put it into reverse? Technically it should. Try that. Or just exchange it for one without the light. Doesn’t really help anyway in these little cameras

Sounds like you have the camera wired to a constant power source. You should wire it to the red wire (I believe) that comes off the ABC harness to the relay. That way the camera is only powered when you toggle the switch to use it.

edit: might be the green wire you need to tap into. There is a big thread floating around which details the power wire you need to tap into for the camera.

It really shouldn’t be powered constantly, as it will severely shorten the lifespan of the camera.

That’s a backup shaft mount camera. You power the camera off the reverse wire., when you put it into reverse the camera turns on and the lights will too.

There is a power wired paired with the rca and that gets connected to the red wire on the relay

Thanks, i figured it out, turns out the youtube that i watched did it differently, he said that the red wire with rca is no use, and he add-a-fuse for the power source for the camera but my camera came with lights so when i did it, the light is always on. The solution was theres no need for add-a-fuse, the red wire with rca connects to the red wire in the cameras power source.
Now the only thing left is the supplied flange nut has a cut on it(not sure whats it called, first time ive seen one). It threads but gets loose like a stripped nut. Hope that it doesnt get loose enough when driving to work or it will dangle around.

Hey did you ever get a solution to that nut that wouldn't tighten? I'm dealing with the same thing here now. Mine spins freely like it's stripped, but yet it was never tight enough to get the chance to strip.

Hey guys! I didn’t want to create a new thread with my questions so here we go. I finally got the chance to install my kit and I decided to go with the switch instead of steering wheel option. I have a 2020 Tacoma Sport. My question I have is: Does everything is color matching? The switch has a blue and a grey wire that matches the other harness that comes in the kit. I have gotten mixed information and don't want to mess anything. My 2nd question: one of the rca has a red wire and also getting mixed information as not to use it and others stating that it needs to be connected to the green wire from the switch as well as the green wire from the relay. Can someone please help clarifying this for me? I will gladly appreciate it!

Hi. So there isn't a need to add a fuse? I ordered the same camera as you with the lights.

Also, does the button light up when you press front or back?
