Should I buy pro or off-road?

Get an Off Road, have them put a hood with a skewp on it and the pro grille. Then you have the best of all worlds i guess.

 

What kind of Mod's would you want done at purchase time?

 

But remember the mods don't add much to resale value, so this makes you owe more than it's worth. If a person couldn't afford the mods without the loan, they don't have a lot of financial flexibility. Being upside down on the loan puts them in an even tighter spot.

 

Remember that any money spent on modifications is money out the window. The cash that you spend on aftermarket wheels, tires, lift kits, suspension, bumpers, lighting, etc. is basically gone.

You will never recoup it during resale and the mods may actually lower your resale value. Used car buyers want stock, unmodified vehicles when shopping. Dealers only want stock, unmodified vehicles when taking in a trade and will typically ding you for mods.

 

Since we are spending your money ...
If you get a Pro, I doubt you will ever drive by an OR and say "shoulda".
If you get an OR, I think you will probably drive by a Pro and say "shoulda".
Conclusion? Go Pro.

 

People always forget you can buy an Offroad for like 36k, put 10k into it, and have a truck worth 36.5k

 

As this is mostly true, it is also why Bolt-ons exist, but this also assumes you keep all of the OEM parts you remove.

Might take some time converting vehicles back to stock after modifications, but it's an option none-the-less. sell the aftermarket parts on ebay or local to recoup costs.

But at the end of the day,at least in my case, can't lose value on something you don't intend to sell. So go all in!

 

Truth. Buying a Pro will give you better resale than buying a comparably packaged OR and adding the grille and Fox 2.5's but at least if you do the work yourself, you can get around half back in a few years when you sell.

 

I was just thinking out loud really...but I guess I can go there...for example on my Sport I would love Fox or King coils, UCA’s, wheels and tires, just the “basic” cool truck stuff. Figure you can do all that for 3-4k-ish at the shop. From the dealer I’m sure it’s gonna be a crazy mark up for anything comparable. Why not just figure out a way to finance into the loan...seems that way you get what you want and save the crazy mark up at the dealer on the Toytec stuff or whatever they want to put on there. What do I know though hahaha. I get you pay more in the long run but it’s way less harsh than that 4k out of pocket.

 

Buy a second gen off-road

I went from AT Off-Road to a MT Pro. I drove the Off-Road for 11 years and had no major issues. But if you ask me which one do I like better? Pro for sure. But, I went from a 2008 to a 2017, I have a lot more options/gadgets on this truck. I'm old, the heated seats are awesome to have.

 

You can get more truck with a Off road for less, but Pro gives you better resale and limited color build outs. Pro is very cool, but does not mean you cant get a great deal on a off road and build it up to be even better than a Pro! #LexCarGuy I have both for sale if need any help. jM

 

Why I always have boxes full of factory parts in storage. Lol

 

If I went the OR route I would do the same to help minimize my aftermarket “cash down the toilet” on wheels, tires, suspension, etc. Most people part with the OEM stuff for cheap due to laziness and lack of storage.
