Hey all, I've been getting to know my new 2020 Tacoma and I have run into something that I was wondering if anyone else is dealing with. I really like listening to my XM Radio in the truck, but I have been working on getting my house set up to be a little "smarter" and have been using Amazon Alexa to set up most of it. I've downloaded the Entune 3.0 to my phone and I can connect it to my head unit without a problem, but to have Alexa listening, I have to change my audio source to the Toyota + Alexa section. That works great, but then I can't listen to my XM radio without switching back and forth. I was wondering if anyone had figured out a way to have the Alexa App listening in the Tacoma while using other audio sources. For example, I would really like to be able to be listening to XM, say "Alexa, turn on the garage lights" without having to press anything on the head unit. I realize I'm probably asking for too much, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had figured a work around. Thanks!

I still can’t believe people are actually buying listening devices and installing them in their homes. My work gifted everyone a google speaker and I use it at work only.

Whatever I ask, I always ask nicely and say "thank you, skynet". She makes me nervous.

You just gotta say "Alexa fix my issue" and your CIA agent comes and does whatever you need, like a fairy

I kid you not, a few months ago I was talking about getting a new phone case. Later that evening I decided to take a look on Amazon to see what they had. As soon as I opened up the Amazon app on my phone, the main page had phone cases for my phone listed. We dont even have Alexa speakers in our house. The best I can figure is that Google assistant on my phone was listening. Kind of creepy and scary.

Happens quite often to my wife with her apple phone. She was having a conversation with some friends about some random topic. Later, when she was home, she went into her browser and there were suggestions for her to go read on the same topic. She was freaked out...

Most devices are listening collecting that "metadata". My brother and I were talking about scuba diving and the next time I opened something with advertisements, it was all scuba related. I just try to keep my talks of taking over the world to a minimum. Unless I have everything wrapped in tinfoil and I'm in my hut in the woods...

If y'all are that concerned about "Big Brother" listening, you should probably just go find a bomb shelter or a bunker and lock yourselves in. Don't use a cell phone or the internet, don't use credit cards, don't drive a vehicle, don't go to any public places, don't fly, don't use public transportation, don't have a bank account, etc., etc. It's only going to get worse. Might as well just accept it and live your lives.

    Lose the Tacoma; become Amish.

Can't help on Alexa. I use Android Auto and Google Nest and don't listen to broadcast radio anymore. At least with Spotify I have some control over the garbage I listen to and get live Google Assistant directly on my header unit.

Some of you might be interested in smart home products when I tell you that I use it to annoy the shit out of my wife by flipping the lights off and on while away.
