I finally pulled the trigger on a Prinsu rack on Black Friday, the box is sitting in the garage just taunting me. Waiting on some nice weather and a little free time to put it on. Lots of great tips and ideas in this thread!

I need to call them back. I went online that day to order. $20 for the brackets. Meh, not crazy high but for what they are, it's a good thing they are stainless steel.

Then I went to check out and shipping was $15 !!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!? I know how much shipping is for something like this. I am gonna call and appeal to them in light of the fact that the rack is $700.

    :fingerscrossed:

How "tall" are the sides of the Toprac? 2?" Do they widen a bit on the front and back portions? I'm looking to fab a rack to go around and above my softopper, and I want to match a Toprac with my existing Cabrac, and I need to know how much space I have to work with. I'm sure this info is in this thread, but there are now ~525 pages to this thread, and... I don't have time to scour 500+ webpages.

    Cheers and thanks!

Prinsu Rack is IN!! The Rhino Rack Tracks put it pretty much dead level to the cab rack.

I need to figure out if I should put my awning/recovery tracks/Plano Case on the front or the back of the truck........

I think it's easier to climb up to the top of the cab than the cap. They even make these cute little steps that hook onto your door latches temporarily.

I would say about two inches. Front and back start at about two inches then run about an inch and a half though the middle to another two inches in the back. See picture. A63FDA4B-92E5-480D-BBE8-8E17C6C4B635.jpg

Definitely easier to get to the cab. I'm more so thinking about which would have the least impact on mpgs and drag...

About how long is the 5' Toprack? Is it literally 5'? Can't find any actual specs on the length anywhere.

Oh, in that case I would have to guess farther back but anything you do to alter the design will have an effect. I definitely took a hit with the gun case and awning. I'm hoping that by moving the light bar closer to the fairing it will help.

The anodized bolts holding the rubber Quick Fist clamps to the Prinsu rusted in about... 1 week's time since I installed them. They're no different than any of the other bolts on the prinsu. None of those have rusted.

    What gives?

Is there a washer behind that? What was mounted to the Quick Fist? To me it sounds like galvanic corrosion, where 2 different metals were in contact when you add an electrolyte (a.k.a water)

There is a washer behind it. On the backside of the Prinsu rack is simply one of the 8020 T-Nuts. It is Zinc, however:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TE30LUI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't believe I used the bolt from this listing. I think I used one of the supplied-Prinsu bolts. It's interesting that neither the washer, or the T-Nut rusted. Just the bolt!

That looks like the bolt was just black oxide coated, which will rust very quickly in a wet environment.

Also, steel is usually not anodized, aluminum is. Although it is possible to anodize steel, it won't have the same affect as it does on aluminum.
