if he is a close friend, i wouldnt just say a one liner, sit down with him and talk with him, try to ease his mind, and remember the good times he had with her

Not much you can say, sometimes just sitting in silence with a beer is the best you can do. Men can have full conversations with each other without saying a word.

not much you can say, unless you've been through the same thing.

I think the old saying goes "Actions speak louder than words" is needed in situations like this. When my close friend's dad died, I said simply that I was so sorry, but I helped him out everyday for anything and was in contact with him, either by phone or by going over to his house everyday for a while. I think being in contact and helping out is truely appreciated.

Bringing over some take out or some food you prepared is another gesture that goes a long way.

If you are a true friend and he knows it, You just being at the funeral home and funeral is enough. If there is something you can do (Most times there's nothing you can do) and she lived in an apartment for example and he needs help moving her belongings. Help him out if he needs your help. Sometimes the one liner (If I can do anything to help let me know) if sincere, will really mean a lot if he needs the help. Talking about his loss is optional for him in my opinion. If he wants to discuss it ok, if not I would not bring it up after you make the initial offer to help him. As always, If he owns a Tacoma......A nice Pair of HID KC Pods would make me feel better if I was in his shoes.
