Slight rubbing- help me with a solution

Is it the plastic on the flap? If it is just get Rok Blokz or something similar.

I don't know what alignment calls for on 2nd/3rd gens but for 1st gen, getting 3 caster helps a bit with that kind of stuff.

That and pinch weld mod.

 

I've tested full lock and still have no rub. His issue is the mudflaps and no lift... Sorry, I initially thought he had a PRO. My bad.

 

Tire shop is willing to swap these at no cost for the 265/75 ko2. Thinking I’ll have better luck with that?

 

That'll take over 2" off the overall diameter of the tire. You'll be left with a 31.6" tire as opposed to a 32.8" tire. It should definitely alleviate the issues you're having, but no mas 33's. The 265/75R16's are only about $20 cheaper a tire, so you'd end up saving on the mount and balance too.

 

Nahhh keep the 285s and live with the rubbing.

 

I run 285/70/17 so the same outside dimensions. Honestly, here's what I've done. I do go off road, so take that into account. 1) Removed the factory flaps. 2) I did a CMC. Between those two things I had almost no rub on road. When I do hear rub, I go get my handy little oscillating saw and start going to town cutting away parts that have rub marks on them. It's a trial and error thing.

 

It will take 1.2” off overall diameter.

 

OK an inch really isn't much to lose I guess to solve my isues IMO. Is there any other size I should consider given my sitch before I swap these out? They are being very nice and willing to work with me. Nice local shop.

If you think an extra 1/2" of clearance is all that you need at full lock and compression then go for it.

Just the stock tires and wheels that came on the truck

 

It’s only rubbing on plastic. It may sound horrible but you aren’t really hurting anything.

 

You’re on the right track man.

1. Heat up plastic with a heat gun nice and hot and start pushing with something hard.
2. If that doesn’t do it, start trimming plastic, which is super easy to do with a sharp exacto blade.
3. If that doesn’t do it, then pinch weld and cab mount are next.

These trucks are meant to roll on 285’s, regardless of what the “living under a rock fender engineers” produce. It’s all very doable and not difficult to solve. Start small and take care of it as you see the problem areas.

 

Use heat gun and push with piece of wood , pry bar or hammer and hold until it cools to keep the shape. Common trick on lowered cars. If you need you can also cut that section out only- the rest of the flap should still stay intact
