Anyone know what backspace sizes will fit the 2wd SR5 Tacoma?

I have already found out it’s the same bolt pattern as a mustang, but I am looking for info on backspacing.

looking to use 15 or 16” wheels for daily use. Would like to have a 15x8 or 16x8 and then not poke out past the fender lip.

thanks for replies, if I get any.

Yeah, that is not quite what I was looking for. More along the lines of what people have tried for wheels and had success with. I know how to do all those measurements, but I am just wondering if anyone has tried something like the Mustang wheels and what size wheel and tire has fit and not had issues of rubbing or sticking out too far.

Honestly you might try the 5-lug specific sub-forum. Most of the folks here have the 6-lugs. When we hear "air bags" we think of how to increase towing abilities, not dragging the frame on the ground, lol.

There's also a wheels/tires specific forum that might be more useful.

Generally speaking though, any time you change the offset, width, diameter etc of a wheel/tire combo, you are likely to have some sort of issue. The question is where the issue is and how easy is it to correct or if it's a big deal for you. Even going from a 265/70r16 (stock size on my 4x4) to a 265/75r16 - or about as small of a size increase as you could get, my tires rubbed the frame when turning until I did some other suspension work (new control arms).

You could always jack up your wheels and cycle the suspension/steering and take a bunch of measurements for your clearance and then do the math on your desired wheels and see where the new wheels would sit.

That's a lot of work, I know, but honestly the only way to be sure (and even then, you can always get your measurements wrong, lol). I've seen plenty of posts where people put 33s on their 4x4 and claim they don't rub the frame (where my smaller-than-33's did). There are a lot of variables, we all have different setups that may make the difference between rubbing or not.
