Hello everyone - just joined the forum yesterday. I have a 2020 TRD Sport. Folks on the New Member Forum have been great! Wanted to ask other 3rd gen owners a few questions as this is my first Tacoma.
    1. Does anyone recommend the ECT always on mod? Or just push the switch every time you start the truck?
    2. What is the difference between using the ECT all the time vs. something like the Pedal Commander or Sprint Booster? As far as response and pick up, what’s best - ECT or something like the Pedal Commander?
    3. Any thoughts on the Pedal Commander vs. Sprint Booster?

Thanks for any wisdom you can share - looking forward to making some new friends!

Welcome! From one fellow newb to another....and....:worthless:

How long have you been driving it for? Is it lacking from what you expect as far as performance and driving experience?

Only had my truck a month. Without the ECT it often feels a bit sluggish. Just trying to learn from other truck owners and get their input - it’s all new to me

You can do the ECT always on mod but you can also go with a custom shift knob from @MESO Customs. It moves the button from the dash to your shifter. Turn it on or off anytime easily. No one will even know it's there.

Very cool! Thank you for sharing - I’ll have to go to the Meso website.

May have to wait until he makes more. They sell quick.

He had an extended height fuse box cover that I wanted to purchase for any future mods involving a fuse tap but none were available - the item was listed as “limited run” - I left my email address hoping he makes more. Any advice?

Seriously?! Why the heck are people selling always on mods then? If you follow the procedure above, how do you turn it off - just press the button? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum. I installed the ECT always on mod and I also got the Meso switch on a Pro shift knob so I can toggle between ECT on or off.
I run with ECT on all the time now.
Edit: I removed the dash ECT switch once I got the Meso shift knob switch.

    Welcome aboard :hattip:

The truck needs some time to "learn". I would just try to drive it for a while without the ECT. I know it can feel sluggish sometimes, takes it a while to break in :notsure:, but there are a few options out there for ECT always on mods, but MESO's I would say is my favorite if I had to go with one

I dont know about previous models but Ive got about 1,000 miles on my 2020 and its just starting to learn my driving. Its starting to rev out on its own instead of immediately shifting. I have yet to use the ect.

My experience exactly, the truck is learning how I drive and becoming more responsive.
I like the double overdrive as it allows the truck to sip fuel under the right conditions. Turn off the overdrive and the truck runs Strong at the higher RPM’s. The best of both worlds, economical but plenty of power when needed.
