Good to know. I didn't realize the Bilstiens were under $400 for the set. That might be the way to go if I can't find a good used set.
What about the rear? I have 155,000 on it and they are looking kinda flat. Are the lift blocks that are already in the back ok or does that also compromise the ride? I know springs would be better but again want to keep the costs down.

i went with 3rd gen shocks and front springs

install was easy except for my rusty sway bars bolts and skid plate bolts

gained some front height to level it out with the 4 leaf pack from recall

Make the CL guy an offer. Doubtful they'll sell fast at that price.

There is no magic in the 5100s. They are popular as they provide a cheap lift if you use a perch above 0. Which is preloading a spring, making it shorter, thus stiffer.

You defined you goal well. Use the right stuff even if you have to wait a bit to find the pieces at the price you want.

Will do. The old lady wants it lifted because of the looks so am trying to keep about the same height as it has with the current setup. Just want it to ride better.

The 5100's generally are around $400 mark. I would recommend installing new strut mounts on the front ones, but you can re-use the old ones if needed.

Unless you are getting the 3rd gen setup dirt cheap and install it yourself, I don't see the point of going this route which likely will not net you the 2" lift that you currently have. Short of the CO's/full leaf pack route, I would go with 5100's and a wheeler's progressive 3 leaf pack for the rear. This would still be better than your current setup.

FWIW (maybe this has been covered in this thread) unless things have changed since we bought our 2005, TRD OffRoad uses progressive wound springs which have a more compliant ride than TRD Sport's linear (and stiffer) springs.

I have the Bilstein 6112's on my 2005 TRD Off-road and like them just fine on-road. However, the cheaper Bilsteins would probably be fine too for less money.

I think that on top of the stiffer valve shocking and the lift is the problem. It makes sense.
