Put 255/85/16s on stock OR wheels and suspension

I know this is the 255/85 thread, but I struggled with the same decision. I’m going to go 265/75R16 S/T Maxx because they are a true 32” tall tire. Similar situation in that I only off-road occasionally, I want to retain my mudflaps, they’re $50/tire cheaper than the same flavor in 255/85, and I don’t want to have to seek out a competent shop to do my alignment since I can’t find any 4x4 shops that local to me. I’ll sacrifice the MPG for the better looks and the extra ply for whenever I do manage to get off the pavement.

 

Has anyone else running 255/85/16's adjusted their headlights. I haven't yet but it seems way higher now, might be just my ADD kicking in. I was planning to upgrade my bulbs anyways is the only reason I haven't done anything about it yet.

 

I didn't and went with better bulbs. No high-beams from on coming traffic.

 

Oh wow, those don't stick out nearly as far as I had imagined. I may need to get me some. Does it handle any better?

 

Anyone have luck fitting one of these in the spare location? Mine isn’t even close to fitting

 

Mine fit fine, but my exhaust is chopped at the axle for clearance.

 

I got my spare to fit underneath. Hammered the guide tabs flat.

To be honest I really didn't pay much attention to how it felt before and after. I'm sure it's improved a bit since the stance is a little wider though, but can't say with any real certainty. I think it looks much better though.

 

Anyone have the Coopers on 16x8 with a -20/-25 offset ?

Has anyone had any luck running 255/85r16 ST Maxx’s on 0 offset 8” wide wheels without rubbing?

 

I thought that no 255 85 16s have issues rubbing on 3rd gens. I wanna go to a open country MT 255, anyone running these on stock suspension and rims?

 

After reading through https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-skinny-on-skinny-tires.529656/ my understanding is that 255/85/16s will not rub if using stock TRD OR wheels with no lift, but someone please correct me if im wrong as im about to pick these up ->

Thanks for the heads up! I was eyeballing these tires on other online sites. But I just pulled the trigger and bought 5 of them from Walmart. Love those rolling back prices.

 

Got them on last night and they are way quieter and smoother than the 35" KM2 and KM3s that ive used in the past. They do rub my aftermarket mud flaps but oh well

 

Joined the club yesterday. Removed the front mud flaps as precautionary measure. No rubbing during normal driving even with worn (112k mile) suspension.
