After unsuccessfully chasing an exaughst leak I finally found why I was getting a whistling sound when I pressed the brake pedal , after spraying soapy water here and there I sprayed the brake master cylinder only to find the bottom bushing are the culprit of my whistling sounds , number five on diagram is my problem , are these replaceable ?

Anyone ? Thinking of just buying a new master cylinder , each bushing is 24.95

New master might be the best bet. Being that they are numbered as parts on the diagram I would imagine they are replaceable. Probably even get a core fee back for your old one.

After looking again, I think even if they are replaceable you might stand a chance of cracking the plastic tank doing it. My vote goes to just replace the whole thing.

I say replace the whole thing if it's not too expensive. When you remove the old one, that's when you tinker with it so you can play the, "what if?" game and kick yourself in the nuts if it was actually pretty easy to do.

If it’s terribly expensive at the parts house this could even be a u pull it junk yard part. Just throwing out options

I would think whatever the parts store has in stock should be fine. That’s what I would buy anyway.

Most of the stuff from the parts stores usually have a bit of a warranty as well. OEM from the dealer probably doesn’t

oem parts from the dealer have a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.

However, I have found it easier to swap stuff at the local parts chain store where the high school kid behind the counter could care less and swaps it out without a hassle, whereas the dealership....well they are the dealership.

What’s your opinion on buying used oem parts from a wrecking yard ? For example I’m also replacing the brake booster which a reman goes for about 199 ,wrecker from the same truck with 80k less miles for 55$,
