Discount tire scratched all four removing my old tires. Their "repair" made it look even worse (clear coat looked like it was rattle can with orange peel and blemishes). Since it looked like shit I was only able to get $600 for it on Craigslist. They did reimburse me $400 though to strip all four wheels and powder coat.

So my SR5 came stock w 16 inch wheels but I really like the look of the 17 in TRD 4-runner wheels in black. Looks like they will fit. Is speedometer the only thing that will be impacted by the increase in size?

Really weird idea. Buy a TRD pro. A v6 camaro with a ZL1 badge, a ZL1 it does not make. Not trying to be a dick or start a flame fest I just really cant wrap my head around it. If you want a specific model, buy that model. "Its too expensive" is an argument I hear a lot. Well, after you make an exact like for like it's really not. Tripping over 50 cents to save a dollar, time and effort is worth money too. As is having the genuine article. Just my two cents, change my mind.

It's not your money or vehicle. Why gripe about someone else's use of their time, money, and choices that don't effect you?

I subscribe to the whole let people do what makes them happy with their stuff mentality.

I'm not, just curious of the point of view that may cause someone to take that path. Why so hostile? No need to be all defensive, I wasnt poking fun. It just doesnt make any sense to me. Your "it's their money so shut up" arguement can be literally applied to everything in life, good and bad so it's a moot point. Sorry for ruffling your jammies, it was just my opinion. Damn, people are fuckin jumpy around here.

For me, the longbed was a must have. They do not make the pro in a longbed ( the 15’ pro was available in AC but not the 3rd gens) so if I wanted one with the styling and features of the pro (the $ wasn’t really the issue) I would have to do it myself ... so I did. Mine doesn’t have any pro badges on it and won’t because it’s not but it is ultimately the truck I wanted and I have enjoyed the slow transformation to a truck that wasn’t available from Toyota.

That's an EXTREMELY good point I didnt even consider. Yeah I guess my trucks only offered in shortbed doublecab. My mind was set on just options and badges. That's why it didnt make financial sense to me. From what I've heard though the off road is easier to lift and mod the suspension than the pro. That true?

Not everyone on here is trying to say they have a Pro (some do-not my thing either) by bolting on a few Pro parts. Many like the aesthetics of some of the Pro parts and are just making the truck look how they want. There is no need to buy a Pro if all you really like about it, is the grill or this or that etc...its not that hard of a concept to get really nor does anyone "need" to change your mind Crowder

Uh, seems to me you are projecting here. My jimmies weren't rustled and I wasn't hostile, I don't even have pro mods on my truck. Was just giving you reasoning like you asked for... Why immediately go to this level of a response, just want to troll the thread?

The "it's their money" argument is a good way to live and should be applied to everything in life. Why do you have a problem with what other people do in their life?

I didn’t think its any easier per se, just more cost effective. if you are going to change out the suspension and lift it etc, the OR makes more sense. The trucks (OR and Pro) are basically the same fundamentally with the pro having the much better Fox shocks. Most of the rest of it is just swappable styling differences.

As you can see in my pic and under my avatar, I also have a longbed. That's the configuration that I needed, but I wanted some of the styling queues from the Sport/Pro.

Regardless of shortbed, longbed, or anyone's other reasons, as @DamGuide commented, it's not your money or your vehicle, so just let people do what they like without interjecting negative comments.
Furthermore, you can't throw out an empty disclaimer (quoted in bold) and then make inflammatory statements. Internet forum etiquette doesn't work like that, nor does the car/truck modifying community as a whole.

You gonna chide me for this too?

Yep. Opinions are opinions. Negative or positive. Sorry I hurt your feelings. Didnt realize it was a safespace. Positive comments only, ima go read over the rules again since I clearly missed that bit. Wasnt telling anyone what they could/should do with their money. If you dont like the fact that someone out there says they dont like what you do.... that's a you issue, not me. Jesus christ can no one take even the SLIGHTEST hint of criticism or dissenting opinion anymore? I even specifically said it wasnt meant to be an inflammatory attack. So if you took it personal then ya got some things to work through. Chill. Everyone calm the hell down. The only comment that made a valid point was the long bed bit, and I agreed with it. That was exactly what I was looking for when I meant to change my mind. Man, you people must be a nightmare if politics or religion were to ever come up. I feel bad for anyone who accidentally has an opinion you dont agree with. Bit extreme yeah?

That's the issue. People are so easily offended these days its ludicrous. Skin like bible paper. If rolls were reversed, and someone asked me the same question I did, in the exact same manner..... I would have just answered. "Because long bed, because X,because Y, because Z" oh ok,thanks those are all really valid points I didnt consider. Instead people reply with REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE with a greta thurnburg "how dare you!" followed by a list of reasons why I apparently have no right whatsoever to have a curious, bordering negative opinion about someone elses choices. Dude, you do you, you can have all the pro badges and equipment you want. No one cares. I just asked WHY, and gave my stance on how I thought it didnt make sense. Make sense?
