burning smell and truck wont shut off

    2009 black tacoma trd
    was driving my 2009 tacoma on a 3 hr drive the other day when i smelled a burning smell breifly that went away after a few minutes. i parked the truck and then drove it the next day and when i went to turn the ignition off the truck just kept running. i eventually got it to shut off but am not sure whats going on. any ideas or others that have had issues with this? also i accidentally posted in third gen forum

    why would the alternator cause the truck to keep running. i kind of understand the wiring issue in the dash\igniton areaim going to try and get under the dash tommorrow with a light and mirror to see if i see or smell anything obvious
    .

    just an update. the source of the truck running when key in off position was sourced back to a faulty remote start installed by previous owner. i removed it and everything works fine now. the burning smell i traced back to the blower resistor and harness which melted and burnt up

    sweet thanks. i just unplugged it at the moment so it only works on high. sorry about not posting about the remote start. it didnt even occur to me as ive never used it. i dont really like the idea of remote start on a manual transmission but thats just my preference
