If I connect the red and black wires together my light bar works just fine. Is there any reason I would want to keep these two connectors? I’m tempted to wire the connection on the left directly to the wiring on the right far down the line to shorten up the wiring and to eliminate the connector on the right. I’d keep the connector on the left so I can I clip the light bar without removing the rest of the wiring if I ever need to.

If you need to replace one of the light bars, it would be nice to just unplug it and put in the new one without having to redo wiring.

I’d leave the connector on the left in there for that reason. The only thing that makes sense to me as far as leaving both connectors (left black and right gray) is if I wanted one switch to control multiple lights. Then I could wire them all into the same connection.

No need to keep 2 connectors inline.
I'd shorten it up and solder on a single connector as well.
