Got it installed this afternoon. Man it’s a tight fit, but nothing is touching. I’ve still not upgraded my charge wire, but so far I can’t tell a bit of difference in the two alternators.CB122712-5F5D-41D8-A931-F3DE3929E4E3.jpg

Wanted to breathe life back into this post to see if there was more feedback on the swap from the 80 amp to 105 amp? I'm close to pulling the trigger!!!

    Just ordered.
I do plan on keeping my original alternator (80 amp) and finding someone local who will rebuild it.

There's not really much to rebuild that's worth paying someone to do. What usually goes bad are the brushes or the bridge rectifier and they are easy to check/test and replace yourself. The regulator can (rarely) go bad and it's harder to test. If the bearings are bad then it's probably not worth having it rebuilt. And a local rebuilder might use cheaper replacement parts like for the rectifier which might only last 30k miles.

If the old alternator still works then just keep it as a backup. It would be worth taking the back off and checking the brushes and rectifier diodes.

Ordered mine today through Summit for $141.31 shipped. I’m installing a winch and figured this should help with that some compared to my original one, which I’ll replace the brushes on and use as back up.

Ordered the Denso 210-0461 today from a local Carquest using our company discount, $131.05, core charge was $27.00. It will be here tomorrow, I need to pull the old one tonight so I can bring it with me in the morning, not to worried about rebuilding it since I now believe it may the cause of grinding sound the truck has been making for the last 2 weeks, already replaced the fan bracket and that didn't solve the noise, leaning towards a bad bearing in the alternator.

Funny thing though, when I gave the guy at Carquest the Denso part number I mentioned it being a 105A alternator and he says what he is looking up under that part number shows a 95A alternator, another reason to take the old one with me, make sure its gonna fit before I walk out of the store with it.

Also, do I need to up size the fuse to match the alternator listed output? Original fuse size is 80A.

Only upgrade the fuse if you upgrade you wiring. Something like the "big three upgrade"

Definitely keep us posted. I hope the guy at Carquest was looking at something different maybe by mistake. From Denso's website 210-0461 list 105A.

Nice. According to Summit mine is coming directly from the manufacturer so the approximate ship date is feb 12th.

Well the mystery of the 105A Denso 210-0461 and the 95A "Denso" has been solved. Stopped in there at lunch to pick up the alternator, turns out the guy at Carquest cross-referenced the Denso part # I gave him with their part #, I guess there was a miscommunication yesterday, maybe my fault, maybe his but regardless I went ahead and took the Carquest 95A. Fitment looks to be the same and the positive terminal points down like the Denso model.

He said he could still order the Denso but it would be next Wednesday before he could get it in. He did tell me that if for some reason it I was not happy with it or it didn't fit to bring it back and he would make it right.

I decided to go ahead and go with the 95A so I could see if this solves my other issue. Its been raining here all day so I won't get it installed until Thursday evening. I'll report back when I get er done.

Appreciate the update. So the one you received is a direct fit as well with (plug n play)? 95A is still more than the stock 80A.

Seems to be, I'll still have to drill out the adjuster bolt hole but would've done that with the Denso also.

So I got the alternator installed, installation was straight forward, drilled the adjuster bolt hole out(5/16”), fit was spot on, took about 15 mins.. At ideal its reading 13.4V, it was running a little rough at first but I assume that was the ECU resetting itself because I had the negative battery terminal disconnected for a couple of days. Funny thing was when I reconnected the battery and cranked the truck, none of my interior switch lights were illuminated and the lights they operate would not come on, after about 30 minutes the switch lights come back on but the lights themselves still would not work, this morning everything is back to normal with the lights. I drove it to work this morning and at around 2200 RPM's it putting out 13.3V.
I was hoping the swap would eliminate my intermittent chirping, grinding noise I've been chasing but NOOOO, that's why I drove it into work so our company mechanic could take a listen and see if we can figure that out.

Alternator arrived!! I'll probably be delayed in getting it installed because my wife had to travel out of town and my 9yr old son has this uncanny ability to want something as soon as I get involved in something.
But, I did want to post some pics. Also purchased a new alternator belt. Just won't feel right putting an old belt on a new "remanufactured" Alternator!
