OK. Just got my 2020. By this weekend I'll have maybe 150 miles. I have 2 weekends left of deer season in AL. I tow my Honda 1000 SXS 60 miles to the hunt camp. Manual says 1st 500 no-tow, then slow for another 500 miles. The SXS and gear is about 2K#'s + utility trailer. Should I listen to the manual?

I doubt they just stick that in the manual for no reason

I towed 2 four wheelers in a 6.5'x16' tandem axle trailer with about 300 miles on the odometer...I haven't had any problems.

Sounds like it's time to take the Misses for dinner at that fancy restaurant in the next town over to get some mileage on the truck.

It probably won’t hurt anything. Try not to beat the truck up if you do. I would say if you can avoid towing at this time don’t. The motor really does need to break in properly.Thats why they put it in the manual.

I personally say yes listen to manual on break in related to towing. That’s just me though. I figure it has a lot to do with the clutches in trans as well as the gears in the differential. This is not a fact because I know it to be true I just err on the side of caution when it comes to breaking in for towing.

Put it in S4, enable ECT, and take it easy.

If you have a buddy with a truck that hunts with you, maybe take their truck this week.

We had Ford F150'S at work and we towed with them as soon as we got them and they stayed in the company with no out of the normal problems .

If you know better than the engineers who built the truck by all means...go for it.

Yeah, I may just leave the SXS home this weekend. Already have 3 in the freezer......can hunt some closer areas and just drive the truck.

You mean the same guy that programmed the transmission and throttle inputs? You mean the same evil guy that designs a truck to hit your shins and your head entering the vehicle? Are you sure?

Look at it this way OP. You'll still have 59,850 miles to go on your power train warranty.

Let it eat! If internal parts were built out of spec, it would have already shit the bed.
I would just do an early oil change, but I did that on mine without an early tow too. I ke sensitive subject, but it makes me feel better :D
