    Hello everyone,

I’m getting my truck tinted on Saturday and had some concerns. I’m planning on getting 35% front windows and 5% back windows and rear window 5%.

I noticed that the back windows and rear window is a little darker than the front from factory.

Being that the max tint for front is 35 and back 5. Will I fail safety because of the 5% tint added on the factory tint/darkening?

My rationale is that if it comes darker from factory, won’t it become even darker than 5% when I do add 5% to the back windows?

Recon and PMVI/Safety inspection stations have only checked driver side and passenger front windows and the windshield. They have never checked my rear windows.

Thanks! Makes sense. Why check the rear when it’s already 5%. Majority of the illegal tints are gonna be caused by the fronts. I never really considered that.

There is no restriction for back/rear window on trucks, SUV and vans.

back windows can be painted black on a truck if you like. The law was written in the 80's when trucks were used for work and such. Only restrictions are the front windows have to be 35%.

Yup, what the others said. I had get 5% on top of the factory tint in the backs. With the auto-dimming rear view mirror, it really cuts back on bozo’s with HID and LED bulbs in non-projector housings
