I just purchased my 2017 6 speed Manual Tacoma thru Carmax and I took it back in for repairs:

    1) because I literally have to stand on the clutch and put it flat on the floor to start
I have had manuals before and I have never had to push it to the floor so hard to start it. I am 5'9" and I have to move to the front of the seat and push the clutch down completely before it will start. But to change gears I only have to push the clutch in a little bit. IS this normally? carmax said it was, but like I said, I have owned manuals before and this is a bit excessive.
    2) It doesn't go into reverse very easy. I have to push the stick shift hard to the right and move it up and down from 1st to 2nd so it will find the groove and slide into reverse. IS this normally? carmax said it was, but like I said, I have owned manuals before and this is a bit excessive.

remove your floor mat and it will start normal with no big effort. your floormat is holding it back from engaging the switch.

#2? get used to it, and it will break in some.

If you look at the clutch, you can see a little plate that is attached to your pedal that comes in contact with a switch when you press it low enough. That plate might be bent back a bit making you press the pedal all the way. I got a felt pad(one of those you put on the bottom of furniture) and and taped it to it adding about 2 to 3 mm so I only have to push the pedal 95 percent of the way

There’s a gate to get into reverse. Usually if you wiggle it in neutral and go over it’ll go right in. Once you get used to it, it’s no biggie.
