They're both about the same price ($9K-ish).

What I don't know is how to weigh the time of the 19-year-old truck and the relative mile difference.

The 2001 is from a single owner that has all the records of every thing he ever had done on the truck (always at a dealer). The 2009 is one I found on CarGurus and I haven't had a chance to take it to a shop yet.

How would you weight these two options?

UPDATE: the 2009 has had the frame replaced. The 2001 has not. Both are in winter environments (2001 = Denver, 2009 = New York)

Check frames on both. I liked my 05 better than my 98, but both good trucks. If the first gen is in really good shape it probably wouldn't last through the day here. If it's been posted a while it's probably too good to be true. Good luck

Thanks! The 2001 hasn't been posted anywhere yet. Family friend :)

I'd buy the 2009 if everything checks out. But knowing the history of the 2001 means a lot.

Buying an 01 knowing the history for 9k, there's really no financial mistake to be made. If the frame is good, there's hardly anything major to go wrong with that sort of mileage. I doubt I'd let that hit the open market if it were me.

This is silly. A truck that is almost two decades old with original frame or one that is one decade with a new frame.

That was updated since my post. I agree with the new frame.

Crazy how prices hold. A 19 year old truck for $9k!!! Considering msrp back then was between $12-$15k, that’s insane!!
