I have a set of bolt on sliders and I want to remove this bolt to replace with a longer one. I've attempted this twice. Both on the same side I think. Each time I remove the bolt and try to put in my longer one, the new one won't go in. When I try to put the old one back in, it takes like 20 mins. The holes just don't align right after it's removed and by some luck of the god's it finally will screw back in.
Similar issue from here except I know my threads are still good as the stock one will bolt back up after fighting. It's really an alignment issue with the holes.

Yes, I posted in that thread what I read was the reason for this and the solution but even after i ratchet strap the frame it feels like that doesn't do anything and I can only get the stock bolt back in after alot of fighting with it. New bolts is M10-1.25x30 which is the same bolt Mobtown sends with their sliders to replace the stock.
    Any suggestions?

Bump, No one who has installed mobtown or similar has had an issue with getting a longer bolt or even the stock bolt back in?

So I stripped the head on this bolt and had to cut it off on the passenger side when I did my RCI sliders, how crucial is this bolt to have installed? I know the bolt is important for the slider if you land down on a rock or use a jack on it and I can drill the optional hole in the frame to achieve this. The cross member is riveted to the frame with 4 rivets on both sides, so i'm wondering if leaving this bolt out may cause issues down the line with the cross member or not?

Edit: This is on the 2nd gen but I believe its the same for 3rd gens
