Have had the Taco since Nov 2018. Made it just over a year and an inattentive driver pulled out of a business right into me on the street.
Thankfully neither of us were hurt. I was driving by at 35mph when she just turned out right into the side of the truck.
Sucks, but nothing I can do about it.

I am weighing all my options. It was towed and the company said my insurance is having it towed to the yard where they send totalled vehicles. Tow truck driver thinks it is totalled. Jury is still out. Will report back.

No crushing into the engine bay when I opened the hood and looked. But it got the cab behind passenger rear door, and at front of passenger forward door. From the back, the bed looks slightly twisted also.
Her Infinity didnt fair much better.

So Tundra, Tacoma, or a 4Runner...are all in the running IF they total it out. If they dont total, it will be rental driving for awhile.

Glad you were okay. It will be close, but looks like it may get totaled out.

Damn that sucks man, but also glad you’re okay.

If totalled, what is making you consider a Tundra and 4Runner, instead of another Taco? Just curious.

I have 11 and 16yr old daughters, and on long hauls for vacation they complain about the backseats. Keep in mind, before this I had a Ram 2500 CC and a Silverado 2500 CC with big backseats that had good leg room and comfortable. Have to admit, having sat back there exactly once, it isn't the most comfortable rear seat in a truck.
The Tacoma is still solidly in the running....I just don't know if I want to listen to them gripe. lol

Got it, makes sense. I’m switching to a Tundra Crewmax for the kids. It’s huge back there. The backseat room is my only issue with the Tacoma. If I didn’t have kids, then the Taco is perfect.

4Runner is also great, I love em!

With 2 daughters I can tell you they will ALWAYS find something to complain about.. it’s built-into the age and gender. :D

Glad you guys are ok. That is an odd one where you get broadsided like that. Talk about a total failure on her part but I get it, it happens.

That type of hit though does remind me about a time when my wife came in from work crying one evening. I asked what was wrong and she said she hit a deer. I made sure she was ok and comforted her and then went out to see the damage. There was damage at the crease of the door and front fender. I went inside and asked, did you hit a deer or did the deer hit you? I have to admit, it was not easy holding back my laughter as she explained that the deer actually hit her. On the bright side, the deer did get up and run away.

My dashcam did catch it. She had a blinker on to go left.
Yesterday was .50 cent corndog day at Sonic. She said while we were standing there...that those were the most expensive corndogs she had ever had.

Best $100 ever spent. I have caught people doing 100mph+ on it, 2 accidents, and then mine. And I have only had the thing for 2 years.
This lady was very upfront with the officers, and the vehicles don't lie...but if it was ever in question, the proof is always available. Her insurance called me a bit ago, and I sent them the same link. They really can't dispute liability. It doesn't get any more cut and dry than this.

Glad you are OK!! Looks pretty bad - my guess is that they will total it.

Glad you are ok and have video. That looks pretty close to totaled to me but on some level it is probably more cosmetic than structural so they might fix it?

    Glad everyone is okay.

If it is totaled somebody will buy it from a junkyard and make a youtube video about fixing it. It will be about 15 different videos and have clickbait titles.

Looks like mostly sheet metal. They will do a estimate on that and then come back with a hidden damage claim. My truck had $4000 in obvious damage and another $3500 in hidden damage after they tore it down. I dont think they will total it unless the air bags went off. Good luck and glad you are OK.
