Hey all, I have a 2017 SR 4x4 which I love. I have a shell on it and a custom camping platform in the back.

The stock leaf packs in the back suck, at least on mine, and I'm sure I haven't helped them when I've towed. I added firestone ride rites and they got rid of the bro lean, but regardless of pressure, boy to they send the rear end to the moon if I hit a bump too quickly. I mean it's chaos back there. I'm ready for a better solution.

I'm too busy with work to tackle a DIY project, but I'd love to hear some suggestions for what my local offroad garage could install. I assume a new leaf pack? Anything else? I like a level truck and I'd like the rear suspension to actually soak up bumps.

    Thanks!

A new leaf pack and shocks will get you taken care of!

Do you know how much weight you have in the rear? This will help determine what leaf springs to get.

A lot of different options to go with, especially with shocks. This will come down to how much you want to spend.

Thanks! I have a Leer 100R w/windoors, a minimalist platform based on 3/4" ply and a sliced 2x6, and some gear underneath. My hazarded guess, best on a shell weight of 200lbs, is that I have 350lbs back there, usually.

As far as shocks go, I don't need to flex on folks, but I'd still like dependable equipment.

We have a very similar setup. Same top and I have a plywood platform as well with drawers underneath. I just intalled dobinsons 111r leafsprings and ome shocks. Rear is at 23 inches hub to wheel well (one inch over stock) and rides great. I have a dclb. You can also pull a leaf if it puts you too high.

Thanks! How's the ride on the little stuff? Speed bumps are currently brutal, and washboard dirt roads are insane lol.

Ride is great. Previously, I was pretty much riding on the sumo spring bumpstops I installed. Definitely an upgrade. If you have a shortbed, your "lift" may be a little more, but you can always pull a leaf if needed. I tried to keep mine below 1.5 inches to avoid changing the driveline angles too much. I am more concerned with dependibility and utility and this seemed like a good route for both.
