    Just got our truck back yesterday after having the SAIS replaced. Get a call this morning saying they want to book the truck back in for 3 days for a 'frame service'. I ask what this entails and he tells me that they heat the frame and remove the rust/ scale from the inside of the frame with a long wire brush and then spray it.
    I told them the truck has been oil sprayed since new and that I just had it oil sprayed last month. Said I will think about it and call them back.

    Am I right to think they will just cause more issues? Sounds sketchy them heating the frame and scrapping away inside with a wire brush.
    Truck only has 50,000 miles on it and there is no visible rust. The truck has never been off road so the paint underneath is still intact. Anyone had this service done? Anyone else thinking of skipping it?

    Stock for now.. maybe
    Where do you live? In certain states, like the southeast, the frame doesn't really need extra protection. If your area salts the roads a lot I'd think about it but if you can keep it protected yourself (and do a better job) skip it maybe. I think they heat it up so whatever they are spraying on it will adhere better. That's also why they would wire brush beforehand so they aren't just spraying over rust

    If you maintain it and it looks good I would keep it as is. I have seen nasty rust form under covered frames and you usually won’t notice until it’s late.

    If you want to make sure your frame is covered under the program, I'd highly recommend you do it. If you don't do it and your frame rusts out, you're totally SOL. I'd say it's well worth any risk.

    My 2014 goes in tomorrow. It was Ziebart undercoated when new and has had yearly re-sprays every year. (But there's no undercoating inside the box sections of the frame.) Even though I'll never own it for long enough for the frame to rust out, the next owner will be covered.

    Yep, I wouldn't refuse the frame service program. Your Vin will be documented as such and could effect future warranty coverage. PO had my truck inspected & coated in '15. I had it re-inspected 11/19. Toyota OK'd a new frame 12/19. Frame is in, waiting for my turn. IF the PO had refused the frame service, I'm sure I'd be S-O-L...
    DO it..

    edit- FWIW, I personally inspected the frame, along with my mechanic when I got the Taco, 2/19. Both of us passed it, nothing of note at all for a 12 YO truck. The dealer tech did his due diligence, evidently.

    I don't have much faith in Toyota's warranty anyways- I took this truck back to the dealership 8 times over the course of the first 6 months owing it and the Toyota dealer was not able to fix the driveline vibration- and then refused to work on it anymore, called Toyota Motor Company and they told me I had to work it out with the dealer.

    I was thinking of having the dealer inspect it and if they find corrosion then I can decide if I want them to do the frame service or not. I knew when buying the Tacoma that the frames were poor quality and they rust out and break in half- that was why it has always been oil sprayed.

    Alright, talked to another dealer and they were good enough to go through the process;

    -all work is to the inside of the frame.
    -air mover with heated air to go into the frame and dry it out for 3 hours.
    -use an extended wire brush to remove the rust/ scale inside the frame.
    -blow the rust and debris out of the frame.
    -apply wax/ oil product to the inside of the frame.
    -install body plugs in frame holes.

    I told them that my truck has been oil sprayed since new and that the hot air would not remove enough oil for their wax product to adhere.

    And yes all frame warranty would cease if I decline this service.

    Didn't sound like they think it would be a problem.

    Here is the product they are actually using Waxoyl;

    https://www.waxoyl-usa.com

    Haven't had a chance to read about it yet.

    Thanks, I have the same concerns as you. I sprayed mine with FF the day I brought it home from the dealer.
    Insides frame rails, outside rails, lowered the spare and everywhere else. Do it every fall. No rust anywhere.

    I think my notice said I have 2 yrs to act if I remember right. We will see I guess.
