Sup Brother! I am thinking maybe going back to a 4R. Still undecided. I loved my 14' 4R Trail. I also loved the 17' Taco Sport. I want both and can only afford one. For my needs either will work so it comes down to price. I want a 2020 though for the new tech. That multi-cam setup is calling my name, as well as the power seat (Taco). I'm wanting a Pro too so I don't have to deal with the LED scene again. My XD Pros were the Shiznit and worked fine up until the end but the prospect of the new 2020 setup is very intriguing.

Just an update on my previous post... I ordered some VLEDs for my sidemarkers and they should be here today. I'll report back with pics to compare. I have deAuto bulbs on one side and then some sylvania zevo LEDs on the other side (these suck as they are not 360 degree light output).

    I got the 'midgrade' LEDs.

I've seen a lot of good looking 4runners cruising around lately. I don't blame you! I do like having the pickup bed though...either one will be a good choice!

Look forward to the comparison. Like others, my deAuto turn signal bulbs burnt out at about the same time as everyone else but they quickly shipped me a new set. I replaced them both so I wouldn't have to do it twice and they were fine after that. Just a fluke on the component end of the bulbs I bet. Shit happens.

I am not perfect so if that happens and the company stands behind them I don't squabble. If it keeps happening though I will look elsewhere. Those bulbs were not easy to get at for someone like me with ogre like hands.

Were yours turn signals or side markers? And yes, tell me about it. Getting the sidemarkers out is a huge pain in the ass...I was pissed when I saw my second bulb start flickering...

Yea, i really do like a truck.

Really, the only thing I need the bed for is taking my trash to the dump. I did not want all that nasty trash that had been sitting in dark green plastic trash cans outside in the sun for 6 weeks (how long it takes us to fill 4 - 55gal bags) inside the 4R so I would put my cargo basket on the back and take it that way. I would put all the recycling inside though. No spills with that. It was a hassle. That damn cargo basket (hitch mount) is freaking heavy and cumbersome. Plus at 57 it was just soooo much easier to toss everything in the bed of the truck and tie it down and roll out. The long bed probably fit a little more too with no height limit. One time though, I had bags of trash inside, a mattress and boxspring up top, a small chest freezer on the cargo basket and then more bags in that stacked up as high as the roof. I might have been sitting on the bump stops. It was $5 a load though and I was determined to get my monies worth!

I have a 16' tandem axle utility trailer but what a hassle hauling that just for a load of trash. If I get a short bed or a 4R this time I am either going to buy or build a little 6' x 8' utility trailer I can use for off roading too. I'll add stake body sides that come off so I can pile in a lot of crap. I'll be able to use that too on my property behind my tractor to pick up yard debris.

The ones that went bad were the turn signal bulbs. I was sitting somewhere one night with my emergency flashers on and the left one started to hyperflash.

I'm not really sure where I got the side markers. Yes, they were harder to replace, but not as hard as the license plate bulbs. Well, maybe a tie

I could go back and look at my posts in here from back in the day but I either used the Hikari 10 pack of bulbs I bulbs I bought for my license plate lights in the side markers or @Parker315 sold me on some that he had bought.

No matter what you buy to replace the OEM bulbs in the front end of the 3rd gen, it is an improvement.

We were just getting crazy in here back in the day........well, Brett was the real madman! and we were trying bulbs and lights like we were at an all you can eat smorgasbord. There was a lot of angst and I detest that at my age so I sorta dropped out. Plus my build for me was complete.

As a matter of fact, I had those Morimoto XB fogs and loved them. I remember I got some crazy deal on them late one night by accident. Now I see they have yellow versions. If I don't get a Pro I am gonna probably go with those. Are there brighter versions? Yes, definitely (Squadron Pros come to mind). Do I want to pay that much money for something not street legal? No!

Again, I am gonna tap my main resource like I did back in the day and hit my buddy Brett. The guy is a genius at this shit compared to me as far as I am concerned. Hell, go back to when I joined and look at our posts. There were about 6 or 8 of us that were super dedicated to ensuring anyone that came in here got our honest, unbiased opinions. All of those other guys knew/know way more than me.

    BFG KO2's
I just purchased a 2020 tacoma TRD Off-road Double cab. So far the only upgrade I’ve made is installing a beautiful set of KO2’s in a bigger size. It looks amazing! :)

The one negative is my 2020 didn’t come with the upgraded LED headlights nor the fogs. I’ve been reading and researching for the past 2 weeks to which direction I want to go. I’ve decided not to purchase new OEM LED Housings from Toyota and instead change the bulbs to LEDs.

Initially, I was going to run Morimoto 2.strokes on hi’s/lows. and then the XB LED Fogs… but after a lot of research this is the route I’m leaning towards for my hi’s/lows.
    1. GTR Ultra Series 2 GTR Ultra Series 2 H11 for both Hi’s / Lows - ANYONE USE THESE YET AND HAVE ANY FEEDBACK ON THE THROW? My lows/projector are H11 and highs are H9. I don't guess difference between two and the H11s will go in both?
    2. Fog lights… I’m stuck from this thread between three options.
      1. KC G4 LED Fog - These are my #1 choice for the Lux it produces and feel these will offer the best performance. These are the most expensive of my options, but leaning towards this.
      2. [IMG]Toyota PT413-42191 Black Fog Light PT413-42191- These are the OEM ones here that will fit the toyota. I saw these were Chinese and cheaper than the Japanese (heard japanese are better built and ones to get over chinese mfg'd). The lux or output isn’t as good as the KC G4. OPINION GUYS? What is the main difference between the Chinese and Japanese version?
    3. Any recommendations on reverse lights?
This is the direction I’m thinking to go? Do you guys have any feedback or advise? I really appreciate that a lot before I pull the trigger and get these today or tomorrow! :)

Btw... anyone know who or where the best place is to purchase all of this? I live in TN.

Well first off, welcome to the forum brother and congratulations on the new truck!!

You asked some excellent questions and you’ve listed some great options. There are SOOO many options on the market now.

Those GTR lighting bulbs are definitely in the high quality spectrum, I might also recommend you to check out two other options as well....

1- VLED: Great company with some EXCELLENT products for High, Lows, Turn Signals, and Reverse bulbs. Definitely a killer one stop shop and the headlight bulbs are adjustable so that they sit perfectly in the housing.

2- XenonDepot: Again great company, well made and solid products for Highs, Lows, and Fogs and and these headlight bulbs are also adjustable so that they sit perfectly in the housing.

As for the fog lights, you’re definitely on track with replacing the whole housing. You can do a drop in bulb replacement there as well, but your going to see greater performance out of a whole new housing that’s designed for LED. Some great options there if your wanting to keep the round design are Baja and KC.

I would continue to research a bit more, because again there are so many options. I know of tons more, but considering the price range you’ve listed, I feel these are good options. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask here or PM me. Good Luck!

Oh and FYI: Do not get the Morimoto XB’s they SUCK lol I had them and the output I was not impressed with.

Do the LED lights perform well in the frigid north up in Canada? I assume the older style lights will heat up and keep from icing up. Just curious

So one of my Hikari LED headlight bulbs went out after about 2 years. Is that pretty typical for LED bulbs? Just curious what other people’s experiences have been. Thanks!

The LED’s aren’t going to heat up enough AT ALL for icy conditions. I suggest an HID Kit.

Morimoto and Xenon Depot have very solid and quality HID kits that I’ve used and tested. Get the H11B bulbs. they fit better in the housing of the Tacoma’s.

I have had LED bulbs go out yes. No it’s not very common though, but they do have a life span. Typically advertised at 50,000 hours. deAutoLED advertises lifetime warranty and I’ve used and tested there stuff and it’s quality. They have fast and good customer Service as well.

VLED and Xenon Depot both have very high quality LED bulbs, but much higher in price than HIKARI. Good luck brother!

I just got my 2020 DCSB-OR with the led lights, and fogs. Inside lights are not led however.

Can anyone confirm the dome lights from the OP fit well for the 2020?

OP states 30mm would be ideal but these are 31mm. For the price I am temped to just order them and see. Worth the ask though.

    Thanks in advance!

I went ahead and ordered the 31mm lights from the op for the inside. They do not work. In the dome it was too big and I almost broke my clip trying to get it in. The map lights aren't even the same style. Anyone have a link to lights that fit?

Any 194 bulb should work for the maps, I went with red led ones. For the dome I went with a 29mm and that was perfect.

Thank you. I don't know much about these lights.

Searching on Amazon i found these:

Yorkim 194 LED Bulbs Xenon White 6000k Super Bright Newest 5th Generation, T10 LED Bulbs, 168 LED Bulb, LED Bulbs for Car Interior Dome Map Door Courtesy License Plate Lights W5W 2825, Pack of 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JRE38EA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_2-nnEbB8ZTA1Z

Says 194 in the title but there are 2 sizes, T10 and BA9S. Do you know what size is correct?

Those are the same LED lights I used in my cab. Though I think the Phillips bulbs are brighter. I'll be upgrading soon.
