Hello fellow taco owners! I’ve been on these forums for a while now but just decided to finally make an account. I’m thinking about selling my current build and getting a new 3rd gen. I do love my Tacoma (very very much) but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m scared to put anymore $ into it because the mileage is getting pretty high. I’m rockin an 05 super white SB TRD off-road. My build so far is as follows.
    - SOS Concepts front bumper
    - American Outlaw lone star Rims
    - Cali Raised LED Ditch lights with rago fabrication mounts (professionally wired)
    - King 2.5 ext travel Coilovers upfront along with TC uniball UCA’s.
    - Heavy duty Dakar leaf pack in rear, paired with OME nitro sport shock absorbers.
    - Cali Raised LED bed stiffeners.
    - Tacomabeast Tails
    - 5% Window tint all around.
    - Cheap eBay seat covers front and rear, paired with husky liners.
    - LED tinted third brake light.
    - Tacoma Bed Mat
+ Loads of other small modifications not worth listing or forgotten.
Truck is at 143,000 right now. So far no problems, only thing that I’ve had to do so far is replace the battery. I’m super anal about keeping my truck clean and up to date on maintenance. Little to no rust on the frame (Got lucky there) , it’s been in the south it’s whole life (2 owners.) interior is also flawless no stains or anything. I bought the truck bone stock at 110,000. Yes, this truck has seen a fair amount of trails but it’s only broken in at this point, and no damage whatsoever because i wheel like a baby without rock sliders. I would keep it but I really want to go full out, and I don’t feel comfortable doing so on such an old vehicle. How much do you guys think it’s worth?

    4 run, 2 don't
    2 is 1, 1 is none

Keep the 2nd gen, buy the 3rd gen (if you have to), and dedicate the 2nd gen to rock crawler.

Great looking truck. The mods will turn off most buyers though. You may hit a homerun and find a buyer that will pay up for the mods, but 98% of the time, they are sunk costs.

KBB or NADA for value, pick your poison

    No need to list your
mods as they do not increase value at all. The only factors are the year. Mileage, package, and condition.

Honestly, if you could get a hold of a lot of the stock equipment, parting out will net you the most profit. Sweet rig though.

That OP left me speechless for a good 5 minutes. That's a bad ass truck. You have sunk a pretty good chunk of cash into it and only driven it 33K miles. So, now you want to sell it, dump $35K+ into a new truck that will be less capable until you dump a bunch more money into it, and then you're going to take a $43K+ truck and go "full out"? The 1st time a tree branch scratches it, you're going to cry like a school girl because you're shiny, new, $43K truck is scratched.

Your mods probably out weigh the face value of your truck. Best option would be a part out and then sell the truck bone stock

Is there anything about a 3rd gen that appeals to you more than the 2nd gen? Or is it just to get something lower mileage?

Personally I plan on driving my 2nd gen till the wheels fall off and am not a huge fan of 3rd gens so I’d vote keep it and go balls out. Sure it’s an older truck but that’s not a lot of miles for an ‘05, same as what I have on my 2010.

Imo I’d keep it, it’s not even broken in yet.
