Code 31 (center airbag sensor) issue

1995 T100 2WD V6

I live in VA and took my 1995 T100 for inspection.
Was told I had a ‘code 31’ and quote 650-700 to fix.
Being an old truck (but still great) I am wavering on putting $700 into it.
Anyone know the DYI possibilities for fixing this, or if there may be a workaround?
Any advice is very welcome!
