I purchased a set of Kings with 650# springs. I just received them Friday and have not installed them yet, but I find myself second guessing my decision. The only armor I have at the moment is sliders. I plan to add a winch and half bumper up front eventually (like a streamline winch bumper). I would like to retain some semblance of ride quality in the meantime.

How rough will the ride be before the winch/bumper? Would the 600# work for now and later? I hate doubling back on builds.

This is why it’s best to do suspension last. If you are adding heavier springs now to compensate for weight you are adding later, you are going to have more lift / stiffer ride until said weight is added. Or if you add light springs now, they wont be enough when you add the weight later on.

This is how people end up redoing suspension 10 times.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I have 650# springs on my 6112's and it is the right spring for me. However, I have a slimline bumper and 10k synthetic winch, full steel skid trio, and sliders. I can't comment on how you will like those springs without the weight, but if you are absolutely planning on adding the weight then you will be okay, just uncomfortable until you add enough weight up front. If you think you might be waiting a long time to add the weight, or might not do it at all, better to hold on to the 650# springs until a later time.

Can you return/exchange them? Dunno if that's a thing.

The word is that the stock springs are over 700# so a lot of members go to a softer spring, then more weight and the ride gets wonky.

Got a 2nd gen, w Billy 6112’s up front. Winch, winch mount, sliders, IFS and trans skid (with transfer case skid on order). It works with 600 lb springs. Next set of coilovers will be w 650 lb springs.

I got 700lbs springs with 6112 and just cbi steel bumper. No winch. Rides fine. You’ll be fine with 650s
