I have a question, I am wanting to do a locker on my 2001 2wd Tacoma. I have a complete rear axle for a ~2007 Tacoma with a locker, and I am wondering if Toyota changed the axles at all from 2001 to 2007. And do you guys think this would be a possible swap???

Anything is possible. You've got some cutting and welding ahead of you, though.

It would certainly be a LOT easier if you just found a comparable axle from another 1st gen (2004 or earlier).

    Is this a 6 lug pre-runner or a 5 lug 2wd?

Why do you think you need a locker? If you want to take it off road, look into a 4wd swap (if you're a 6-lug) rather than putting a locker on it. If you have a 5 lug, at best just do a limited slip.

If you just like doing sweet burnouts and donuts, a locker is pretty cool.
