Camper shell price check?

Not sure if this is where I should post this. Please move/delete if not allowed here.

I'm looking at a Leer Legend shell local to me and available to pick up. It has the slider front window, MGM paint already, side slide windows (tinted). Only downside is there is no upholstery inside but I really don't care about that too much.

Installed and tax out the door for 1800.00, you guys think that's a decent deal. I'm new to shells and don't want to get ripped off. I'm located in Central Ca if that matters for pricing.

Edit- This shell is brand new and 5 foot.

 

Is that a new or used shell?

 

FWIW-I just bought a new Leer 100R for my long bed in the boston area. Had to order it from the factory (took about 6 weeks) and the only thing I added above base was a sliding front window. It has sliding side windows with screens. Installed was $1,465.

If you have the time, look used, private party. You can find them under $1,000 fairly easily.

I got new, paid about 1800 for a SnugTop, had the same options plus larger rear glass, interior carpet and sliding/ fold down front window. Look for windoors, they are worth the extra $$$ at least on one side.

 

That snugtop sounds like a great deal. I saw one local for 1200 a months back but didn't have the funds. I have been combing craigslist and all that but it's hard to find one with MGM paint and a 5 foot bed around here. I'll keep looking for sure.

 

Seems to be close to retail maybe alittle less but it's new and you won't have to wait for it. You can hold out to try to find a MGM used one but good luck. I looked in my area for months before I purchased new. I would have gone for it if I was in your position
