    Thanks for the insight!

I've replaced the Pass rear sensor and did do a swap front to rear on all 4... though aside from just blowing out with compressed air I didn't thoroughly clean them. Ill do that next weekend. The weird thing is though, on my OBD reader (not scangauge), I have the option to see all-wheel sensor input and metering and all 4 are working...

Weird that the code comes and goes though... and there is no rhyme or reason as to when or why, bumps, speed, lean, turns, nothing definitive seems to trigger it...

Am I correct in saying the combination meter is incorporated into the cluster?

    Thanks,

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
If the mounting of the sensor is fine then I would think there is a contaminant interrupting the signal. I would use a degreaser to clean them perhaps even acetone.

Given that the problem/code is intermittent, you kinda need a scan tool that can pull up all the speed sensors on the truck (wheel speed, trans output, etc) on one screen and go for a drive, see if one drops out while driving

As far as cleaning the sensors goes, the sensor is just a magnet with a toothed wheel spinning close to it on the axle. It doesn't really matter if it's "dirty", it's the magnetism that sends a signal up the wire to the computer. Usually when a sensor fails it's because the magnetism gets weak and it cannot induce enough of a voltage signal along the wire that the computer will recognize.

Sometimes the tooth wheel will get chipped, cracked or moved too far from the sensor (like when someone replaces axle bearings and doesn't get the rings pressed back into the correct place on the axle shaft)

Edit: in the link muddinfun posted it looks like the guy had a problem with his combination meter. If you can get some speed sensor signals on a scan tool and they never drop out while driving, I'd start looking at the combination meter
