Hello everybody! First post here on the forums, looking for help with my '97 RWD

I spent a good while googling and couldn't find much consensus on the best way to do a rear coilover conversion on one of these trucks. I'm sure this has been done to death and I'm just stupid, but anybody willing to help a guy out? Looking to lower it a bit as well, not a ton as I have to deal with a whole bunch of nasty speed bumps and poorly maintained asphalt.

you will need a 4 link and relocating your gas tank or some sort of 3 link but I would just do a 4 link and get a 15gal fuel cell. you will have to fill your tank in your bed. just know it's a lot of welding unless (i wouldn't mess with bolt on if those type are still even made.)

why, can I ask, do you want coilovers with no drop?

I want to lower it a little bit, like I said, but the point of doing coil-overs without a big drop is because I still want the truck to be comfortably street-able. My father also needs to be able to fit in it, he is a bigger guy than me and is partially handicapped after a bad car accident a few years ago. Not looking to relocate the fuel tank if I can help it, so I may well go with a 3 link. I have a fairly okay understanding of suspension from my days as an remote control car hobbyist, I've designed my own stuff before but all on a much smaller scale. I was hoping to skimp away easy with an all-inclusive kit of some description, but i also figured that may not be the case.

there are a lot of options out there all being custom most relocate the fuel tank. if you want to lower it a little bit (i don't know how much is a little bit) just take your middle leaf out. that is good for about 3-4" I don't remember. I have a 4" block, 1" bolt on block and middle leaf removed and air'd out my bedside comes about 3/4" to my 19" wheels. 79115197_575940129616303_3919601005599129600_n.jpg

Where would I find any of these options? Like I said in my first post I couldn't find anything full stop.

it's all custom. measure the length's and cut rods, add heim joints, weld on plates. you will need to get in contact with a fabricator. and the sky is the limit.

I misunderstood, wanted to make sure. Thank you very much for your help! Once I get some progress done I'll make a thread to show it off :D

This sounds like a lot of work to just "lower it a bit"... rc cars are quite a bit easier to work on than the full size stuff!

If you dont plan or need to adjust the coilovers constantly for track duties and just want to set your ride height to your desired location and keep your stock ride I would look into simply getting the rear leaf springs re-arched to your slight drop of choice. Then, snip your front coils a bit to set your stance up font too!

Definitely let us know where you decide to take this project please, and good luck to you.
