Did you guys know that if you pee on your frame, it won't rust. Try it out, get all the hard to reach areas.

I was in last week, they told me the frame looks fine but they don’t have a fix available yet.

Ill hopefully find out today what they did. They took my truck yesterday for "the treatment".
I will post my opinion of what was done. They did give me a nice Rav4 XLE to drive.

Took mine in last week, it passed (which honestly, I'm a little surprised at, the welds are pretty rusty and so are the cross-members, but whatever), and the parts for the "fix" are supposed to be in this week. I guess they (supposedly) clean out the boxed sections, plug the holes in the frame with plastic fillers and then put the goop on. I don't have high expectations, but I'm complying with everything to make sure I'll be eligible for a replacement, if and when I need it. Or maybe just "when," this is Ohio after all.

Weird, nothing shows up under my VIN # on that site, but I did get the first letter in the mail a few months back

So what is the CRC goop they are applying? Just got a 2020 and considering putting something on when we have our first warm day and would likely use Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector at this point but I'd be interested to know what Toyota is using. Have they done anything to the new frames or can we expect the same rust issues going forward?

My personal choice is yearly (or more) applications of Fluid Film. There are several similar products available as well

Basic fact of life, if you live in salt belt state you'll have rust issue no matter what the make. So keep it clean and apply whatever you choose

Amsoil MP is a good product, but it’s too thin for frame protection in my opinion.

    a few...
Just dropped mine off at the dealership this morning for this scheduled frame service. My service manager states it’s a two day process. Should be interesting to see once I get my truck back.

Heavy Duty Metal Protector is not the same as the much lighter oil Metal Protector. HDMP goes on wet, then dries with a waxy type film. I've used it for years on motorcycle chains. Looks a bit like cosmolene once it dries. Amsoil also makes a chain lube which is similar to the HDMP, but lighter. It dries and forms a waxy film as well, just not as thick.

I'm a Honda parts manager but my Tacoma came from down the road at our Toyota sister store. The tech (a friend) that finished all the special Toyota training for this procedure said that it takes 6-8 hours to run the frame dryers before they spray the special coating which actually contains beeswax as the main ingredient. He also said it was a two-day process in most cases. They were going to use my truck to practice the new procedure but I needed it myself the day when the Toyota training guy was there. They said my truck will get the treatment eventually once they get the whole program up and running properly and people start to get notified from Toyota.

Call Toyota. That's what I had to do to find out mine was included in the campaign. I've never gotten anything in the mail from them.
