I took a while. I made a negative mold with fiberglass, and laid it into the flare quarter panel. There was quite a bit of shaping and smoothing, but that’s the beauty of polyester resin; if you don’t like how it looks, just add more and redo it. I did have to bend the snorkel with a heat gun to get it back to the windshield, as its new position was still about three inches out from stock.BDF03A28-B6DF-49E5-B008-A5DD89164BA9.jpg

I also had to fit it past the eco cage, which was a bit tight

    Jesus, this took 5 months?

I can't even manage to finish my skid plates in 5 months, lol

Of course, if I had that kind of shop, I'd probably have been done in like 15 minutes.

I get it. I bought the truck in 2004, and finally got the opportunity to spend time on it. Everything seems to take ten times longer than I think. I am also 60 years old, and have been collecting tools and teaching myself how to fab for almost 40 years. I kinda started this project in 1978 with an old Scout, a few used hand tools and a gravel driveway. Life, marriage, kids, job, all got in the way of my 4x4. It has taken all this time to get to a point where I have the time and tools to really move projects forward.
Don’t get discouraged with your skid plates. Do what you can, when you can. if you are in Western Washington, we could work on your plates together. My two sons have become pretty good fabricators in their own right, and they can help as well!

Yeah, that life thing, always getting in the way of living, lol.

I appreciate the offer, but the commute from Sacramento would be murder! :D

Part of the reason it's taking longer than I anticipated is that I paused everything to build a new shop. Not a huge space or anything, but the 16x20 barn style I have now is WAY bigger than having to share the garage space with my wife's car, lol. Building the shop of course had its own set of projects (I did all the grading, electrical, insulation, drywall - tuff shed did the walls and roof) with their own delays, cost over runs, etc... It's been a year since the shop was built, and only just now am I starting to really "move in" and get all my junk organized to the point I can actually work on my other projects.

Haha, I just saw that you are in Cali. I guess that would be a bit of a commute. If you have any pix of your new shop, PM them to me, I love looking at other guys shops.

Hey Rick, got any more pictures of your roof rack? I've got a ARE MX topper and I have been planning on building a rack very similar to your front one for the cab so it will line up with the topper rack. I don't think I'll do dual light bars, but the overall design is pretty similar to what I had in mind.
