I know some of you all have done it. But can someone share their experiences with putting the eBay pocket style fender flares on their truck? I’m not concerned with drilling new holes or enlarging what’s there. I’ve already bought ss hardware to mount them but I noticed there’s very few and far between short beds but way more sellers for the long beds. I lost a flare driving home and one is split so I’m going this route.

I'm curious too. Was rear ended 2 months ago. Instead of paying for paint-matched fender flares ($$$), and since I've DipMyCar matte black the lower panels and fenders flares anyway, looking to go non-stock on all four fender flares. Was surprised that all "pocket" "bolt-on" "rivet" fender flares only fasten to the truck via ~6 bolts to the underside of the fenders. None of them actually "bolt" to the exterior face of the fenders or use the body clips that the OEM flares use. I originally thought the "bolt-on" or "rivet" style used bolts through the original body clip holes. But every manufacturer I've found those 'fasteners' are just for looks! Not sure I like them only attaching to the fenders via ~6 undercarriage bolts.

    Thought?

Well that is not my concern as I’ll be drilling and attaching with all new hardware. I just needed to know if the long beds will in fact work on the short beds given I modify the holes.

@Newlife Did you ever try to buy the long bed flares for your short bed? If so, did they fit? I have the same problem here.

I ordered they never showed up and I got refunded. So it’s been a back burner project.

I did it. Soooo much sanding drilling prepping and tweaking and they still just fit “okay”. I’ll post some pics

Probably spent 12 hrs on bed sides and 8 on fenders. If I did it again I’d go McNeil.
