It does actually have one piece of plastic. The threaded sleeve that locks the adjustment bar in place. Im not worried about it though.

    Me too!

You do you man hahaha, thanks.

Have another picture that really highlights how poor the Leer paint "match" is.

Cruised up to Flagstaff to have @snowsk8air2 weld up my Alpine Designs cab mount relocation. It wound up taking about 4 hours to cut and grind away the stock cab mounts and about 30 minutes to weld on the new ones ha! First impression are, if you want to run 35s on your 3rd gen, dont waste your time or money with a cab mount chop. Go straight to a cab mount relocation. There is SO much room for activities now, even with my measly 2 1/2" lift. I need to smash back the pinch weld a little bit more because it still rubs on big bumps with the wheel turned the right amount but otherwise there is clearance galore. Might have to go hit some trails tomorrow instead of watching the super bowl.

    Bye bye stock cab mount.

Hello new mount! This picture does a good job of showing how much clearance is gained over stock. The grind marks are (obviously) where the stock mount was located.

Ill sand it and give it another coat of paint.

    Look at all that room!!!

Just making room for those 37’s when these tires wear out :muscleflexing:

But really a great and simple kit. I’d agree to anyone that remotely thinks they’re going to ever go bigger than 33’s to do this vs a regular cab mount chop. And a plasma cutter would probably cut 2-3hrs off that install time lol. I’ll have one some day.

Forget the super bowl, go wheel tomorrow and just watch the commercials on YouTube later. They’re the best part anyways.

Been thinking about doing the same things you did to fit your spare tire under the bed. I’m running the same size tire as you. Are you still happy with it there?

Yeah it works just fine. Its wide enough that I was slightly worried about hitting it when offroad but I havent had any trouble. I do have to keep it at like 10psi to fit so you'll want to have on-board-air if you go this route. Also that helps if I were to drag it on a rock or something it should flex instead of puncturing the tire.

    Thanks!

Just updated my fuelly for the first time since installing the lift and 35s. ~50 tanks of gas and ~15,000 since then. Average MPGs dropped from 19.2 to 17.5. Eww

Went out this afternoon to try the new cab mount relocation offroad. Wound up with a cracked windshield and crooked steering wheel. I hit some trails that were mostly mild, the only real "obstacles" were steep, not super technical or difficult. Not sure why my wheel would be so crooked. Nothing appears bent underneath so I guess it needs to go in for yet another alignment. I should get a daily driver.

*Vertical video warning, I was trying to show the crooked wheel and straight road at the same time.

Its all worth it for these views though. Arizona is fucking amazing.

    Needs more :sawzall:

This hill doesnt look very steep from the top.

But from the bottom its quite intimidating.

This was an interesting sight to come upon.

Its unfortunate that people are this shitty. Person probably broke down and had to hike out. I wonder if they even know their Jeep has been destroyed. It wasnt rolled. It was a pretty fresh scene. Bunch of nice camping gear that wasn't even picked over.

For the 5th time I had the control arms off the truck today. My last go round I realized I had ruined some of the poly bushings with the wrong grease and too much of it. Dirt King sent me a new set of bushings which I installed today. Since I was in there and in light of recent offroading showing me that I still have a decent amount of rubbing. I also decided to bash and cut my wheel wells some more.

Does anyone run no wheel well liners on their 3rd gen? Im curious about the passenger side because of the inlet for the intake that sticks into the fender-well area that is normally separated by the liner. I might have to trim the liners so the horizontal "upper" portion is still used.

I realized I had folded the pinch weld towards the center of the vehicle, I decided to fold it the other way so it actually folds back into the void where the foam piece sits inside of the fender. I also smashed the body back as much as I could. I only have a 2lb sledge so I didnt make a heck of a lot of progress but there is a full 3" behind the tire which is a substantial gain. I need to pull the carpet, make sure all the fuses/plugs/wiring on the inside of the footwell are safe and then go at it with a much bigger sledge. There is definitely room for another inch or more.

    Re-folding in progress

This is how much room I have at the moment with no liner.

I'd definitely not run without a liner unless you snorkel up

The more I think about it, Ill probably trim the liners for tire clearance and reinstall them. Im not really a snorkel kind of guy.

I can think of no better person to ask this! How do you like the Headstrong AAL with your topper? I have a SnugTop Rebel on my Taco and it's sitting level with the rear leafs. Would you go with AAL's again or would you recommend full pack replacement?

I like them but I will say, I never leave anything alone haha. I had a softopper for a while and have been keeping my camp kitchen slide-out and sleeping platform in the bed at all times so even before the Leer topper I had a couple hundred pounds in the back of the truck constantly. The ride is really nice with all that weight back there but as you noted, the truck sits level, not slightly rear high as most Taco owners seem to prefer. Originally I had removed the overload leafs but after the springs settled I reinstalled the overload (though I cut it down so it doesnt effect flex offroad) and it only sits just level again with all the weight in back.

Thats a long way of saying, Ill get full leaf packs one of these days. Honestly I can't decided between Dakar HDs and Icon RXTs or I probably would have bought some already. The Headstrong AALs are great esp. if you want some lift, a nice ride and don't want to spend a ton.
