Likelihood of rubbing is significantly increased when using mudflaps.

Well I got the wheels and tires put on, don’t think I could be more happy about the way they look
But there is a lot of rubbing! Took the mud flaps off the front and still had to get the Dremel out, did some initial cutting, about to test it out on with some more flex, and see what additional cutting I’m going to need,
Pretty sure I see a 2” lift in my near future.
    Specs:
    -Stock suspension
    -Vision Nemesis 11 wheels 17”x 9”
With -12 offset, back spacing unknown(lazy)
    -no spacer
    -Falken Wildpeak 265/70/17 tires

Just installed new 265/70/17 Falken wildpeaks on my 07 DC and have some rubbing as well. I have 3rd gen suspension all around and add a leafs in the rear. First step is to remove my front mud flaps I guess. Wondering if front spacer or Bilstein 5100's would help?

Did you end up fixing the rubbing? I want to run a similar setup but with nitto terra grapplers instead.

I've got the oem trd 4runner wheels with falkens 265/70/17 and they rub just barely in reverse at full turn.

    Making a wish list
Hey Everyone this newbie needs some help. I am looking at the Falken Wild Peaks 265/70 17. These will go on 17x8.5 +10 Offset. These will go on a 2021 SR. With the positive offset should I be okay? Of course I don’t want any rub!

The 265/70 is a lot cheaper than the 265/65.

I do not have any mudflaps if that helps.

    Thank you for the help!!

I don't know what tires you're looking at, but it's only a $1 difference between a 256/65-17 and a 265/70-17 Toyo Open Country III tire.
But I'm glad I found this thread. The wheels I have are 17"x8" with a -10 offset, and from what I'm seeing, a 265/70-17 tire will rub, which is what I don't want. And I'm not gonna lift my truck, so I guess I'll stay with the factory 265/65-17 on my TRD Sport.

I'm super late, but where exactly did you rub? I'm getting ready to order the same wild peaks and some method MR 305 17x8.5 want to know what I'm up against

I have method 316s (17x8.5 0 offset) with 265/70/17 wildpeaks. Rubbed bad on the front mud flaps. Removed those and then had to trim some plastic (the hard rectangle piece behind where the mud flap was) and then heat up and mold back the fender liner a bit. That was no big deal and got rid of the majority of the rubbing. Still rubs slightly on the fender liner and cab mount when wheels are turned and hitting a big dip or bump in the road. Would need to hammer the pinch weld and cmc to get rid of rubbing completely, but the rubbing is minor and I don't really offroad so not worth it. I imagine it will go away once the tires wear down a bit from use.

I had to trim a 1" piece off the PS, and drivers side fenders above where the mud flap sits... had to remove them....

For those rubbing with 265/17 17 on stock suspension, perhaps an alignment may help. I had ran Mickey Thompson Classic III (17”x 9” with -12 offset) with 265/17 17 Nitto Terra Grappler II on my '12 Tacoma with no rubbing after removing the front mud flap and front air dam pieces. Shouldn't have to trim or make any permanent modifications but YMMV depending on the wheel.

Yes, they stick out a lot. To me they are necessary. Are there any that don't interfere with the tires?

I believe the Method MR 305 is also 0 offset so it highly likely I'll have the same scenario.i don't have mud flaps or offroad at all so my rubbing should be very minimal. Hopefully only rubs on occasion. Atleast until I save enough coin for a lift, sadly I can't afford tires wheels and suspension

only on inclined turns. I cut a 1" square of the material out and have'nt rubbed since.. although, now I am looking at going to a 33.3" tire, and have to go CMC/BMC, pinch welds, and try to push the plastic back....

Man that's unfortunate, I mean im.about to go with a similar set up as you, same wheel but with the falken wild peaks instead. I guess a little rub won't hurt. It sucks Toyota knows owner have lifted these trucks for decades and seems they make it impossible for people to do so with the 3rd gen

if you have the adaptive CC, and or lane assist... it makes it even harder... mine is a 2016 before it became the tech package/standard...
