Tacoma Trail Edition

CNET accidentally released an article on the new "Trail Editions" of the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner. The link is now dead, but I think it's safe to assume that this is the new trim that Toyota teased in the Chicago Auto Show press release.

Do they scrape the pro off the floor mats and put trail on there instead?

 

I wonder if it's above/below offroad or more like a package. Maybe combine it to tRailRoad and it'll have these

 

Maybe a package for the SR5 like some regional dealers do with the XSP?

Trail edition isn't a totally new trim level, is it? I seem to recall a Trail Edition 4Runner being an option when I bought my '16 Taco.

Trail Edition isn't new to Toyota at all, maybe to Tacoma though. I have a Trail Premium '16 4Runner right now. The Trail Premium is features of the OR, Trail, and Premium kind of mashed in to one

 

So 2021 there will be a rinse and repeat for frequent fliers that like to trade trucks in with no real upgrades just a few decals, a beer koozie and a logoed Igloo cooler. Aka the Trek Jetta and K2 Jetta of circa 1998?

 

I think it's going to be a mix of the OR and Limited with some black OR wheels, Limited grill, etc.

 

Of course, would you expect anything less?

Yep, I think will be exactly what it will be. The Trail 4Runner included a little taller suspension (maybe 1") so add that too.

 

So a truck for Bob that's torn between trying to relive his youth, but understands his wife Bonnie like's the softer side of things like houses with no stairs and cruises

 

The 5th gen 4runner TRD Offroad used to be called the Trail. Nothing new here except if they use the name on the Tacoma. We need details though. Maybe something between the TRD Offroad and Pro? Maybe a base offroad with the Pro suspension?

 

How much will this cost to convert my truck to trail edition? Asking for a friend.

Don't think they would mess with the suspension so it has the same stance as a PRO.
