Hey I’m wanting some advice on what to look for on a Tacoma. Right now I’m eyeing one down at a dealership in my town it’s posted for $4,995 I wanting to know if that’s a good price for it for a 2006 model year and common problem associated with it. From what I know from the post is that it has 102k miles on it it’s a base model truck which I’m okay with doesn’t have cruise control sucks but think I’ll manage it and it has the 4 cylinder automatic it’s only 2wd. So yeah I’m just wanting to know what to look for on it thanks.

Welcome to TW! 2005-2006 are years to avoid from what I have read on here. I think it has a head gasket issue. But I'm not sure if that affects the 4 cyl.

Frame. Frame. And then, frame. Carfax? Look it over/under for botched repair jobs. Drive straight? Service records? Pics!

    Welcome!

Like @Greeny said check the frame, use a hammer, check near the rear leaf mounting points.

Also think what you'll use it for, there's many a folk who get 2wd and wish for 4. Also the 4 bangers are a bit sluggish.

https://www.mcmahonautosales.com/2006_Toyota_Tacoma_Rantoul_IL_37748045.vehThank you, I live here in Illinois snow is bad from time to time but not that big a deal. The purpose of the truck is to get me to college and to get to job sites 4x4 isn’t a big thing for me my current truck is a Silverado and it doesn’t have 4x4 so I can live without it

Here’s a link of the truck not much to look at but for you guys to have reference on it.
