What Springs were with OME kit? Bilstein are not progressive.

Also most companies used Eibach Springs. Pretty sure all kings and fox and icons and probably bilsteins use eibach.

They came with the ARB/OME medium 2888 springs.

One thing to note is that the 3rd gen front end weighs 300lbs more than the 2nd gen. The medium springs are only 590lb springs
The stock offroad springs are 700#, but why do they ride SOOO much smoother than the OME? This puzzles me, but I’m pretty positive it’s because a taller spring in the OME is preloaded to hell and has not spring travel even though it’s only a 590#. Some shops have told me this exact thing as well

888 is the tallest spring correct? That makes sense about the preload though. Im looking to get the 885 to level out. Im torn between 5100's or OME. Probably just gonna get both and try them out and sell the one I like less. Had no idea stock coil is 700.

The 5100’s are a better choice in my opinion. Everyone except serious wheelers love em

    Hey!

I’d go with the OME struts. Twin tube shocks are pretty much indestructible and are used widely in Australia by people who Wheel the hell out of their trucks. They also have a 3 year warranty from ARB.

Bilstein will not honor their warranty if you’re using any aftermarket coils like OME coils. Lots of different threads around where people have been denied warranties by bilstein for this reason. Nothing against bilstein, good suspension. I just think the twin tubes from OME and companies like Dobinsons are more reliable and still provide a great ride.

    I hope this helps!

I went with 5100’s and Eibach pro-lift coils about 10 months ago and can say the ride is definitely a huge improvement from the stock Bilsteins. Btw I have the toytec mini leaf pack and spc uca’s. I’ve taken it up to the mountains and it rides smooth.

For what it’s worth Toytec told me the same thing about OME and Eibach not playing nice with each other. I already had the 5100’s so the way I see it is that they were being honest and not trying to get every dime out of me.

This is how my truck looks today.. sorry, not the best pic.

That's pretty much exactly the look I want...what size/brand tires are those?

The Off Road model comes stock with Bilsteins. I think they’re considered 4700 or 4800’s.

Any rubbing? Did you have to do a CMC?

Originally I had some rubbing when I got the new tires put on. Had the alignment shop adjust the SPC UCA’s to move the wheels forward (more centered with the wheel well) and trim very little on the rear bottom of the well. Honestly I think they trimmed that area for when I go off roading because I don’t see the tires rubbing after the adjustment and alignment- There's a decent amount of clearing.

i have 5100s and eibach springs and i love it. its a slightly stiffer ride than stock which theres really no way to get around when lifting anything (imo) but its actually a better more solid sride than stock. much better offroad too. i have 285/70/17 tires with 17x9 wheels and a -6 backspacing, i had to do some very minor trimming but other than that its mint.

There is no contractual agreement for this. Bilstein, Fox, Koni, etc... all make great products. We don't discriminate and we do not have a secret hand shake with Bilstein.

Bilstein 5100 / Eibach combo. Rides like a Cadillac... Ok doesn't ride like a Cadi but I like it.

I bought some eibach coils from toytec for my tundra about a year ago. Well long story short they were defective and I was not reimbursed or helped out. Now I’m looking at your coils for my Tacoma. Care to pm me? I have a few questions....

5100 are digressive shocks, nitrocharger are progressive.

The difference being 5100 can handle g forces and cornering abilities better while the nitrochargers will be better off road. Of course progressive always is a bit more comfortable due to the shock absorbing capabilities vs Bilstein.

A regular Joe may or may not really be able to tell the difference.

That being said, I run 5100 front and comfort valved 5100 33-104645 in the rear with eyelet adapter.

Also, the OME unit is a twin tube. I'd much rather have a monotube shock built in the states.
