I recently purchased a '15 TRD OR Prerunner. It checked all the boxes for me and my wife. We couldn't agree on used Nissan Frontier vs Chevy Colorado that we looked at. I get a little confused with Toyota packages and trim levels. So, do I understand correctly that Sport and Off Road are packages and SR5 is a trim level? What is the difference between an SR5 Prerunner and an Off Road Prerunner?

They describe different packages the Tacoma could be ordered in. My recommendation is to take a look at the brochure: http://autotrends.org/brochures/2015-toyota-tacoma-brochure.pdf
See page 20. I don't want to miss any differences, so take a read of that and that should tell you exactly what the differences are.

Congrats by the way on picking up a Tacoma! Welcome to the forum!

The biggest and best difference is the Locking Rear Differential.
    Then Seat Fabric
Followed by a front tow hook (didn’t know that wasn’t an option on all 4x4)
    And finally skid plates.

Fair warning the Skid plate. Is more like a splash plate.
I do not recommend you skid or slide over anything other than lose dirt or mud.
