Ok I have a question because I’m new with this air fryer thing...

If something has a prescribed time and temp on a package(non-air fryer) do I follow that or is there a formula to cut the time down

    No.
    Try this^

I have found that I go somewhat what they say but the best way I can put it is that it is a countertop convection oven but the quickness of a micro.
Trial and error as not all air fryers are the same.
Good luck and post pics of food!
We like to eat as well!

I would NOT trust that. 24 minutes at 400°F in my AF gonna cook the holly shit (burn) anything that says 425°F for 30 minutes in a regular over. I say cut off 10 minutes and WATCH the food cook. LEARN your AF is the key. Mine runs hot and fast, and that is exactly what I wanted. Just start trying stuff and WATCH the food cook.

Another key is to preheat the AF. You want it to be well..........like a deep fryer, hot and fast.

My AF puts off a strong odor when cooking. It's not a pleasant food odor either and it lingers for quite a while. I've been running an exhaust fan whenever I cook.

That doesn't sound right. Is it a chemical smell? Could you be cooking off the non-stick coating or some unseen plastic piece?

That skanky AF. Seriously something is wrong. Maybe the first burn in it may have a smell, but not normal after that. Contact, send back.

Sounds like an issue with it. I would say contact the manu and get a replacement. Don't need an electrical fire.

I know when we got ours there was packing material tucked up inside the fryer.

It's not really a chemical smell either, kinda hard to describe. It uses mesh trays that are plated. The walls may be non stick, dunno. No plastic that I can see.

It's not about the amount I don't think. I think it's the fact that it's not coming in contact with enough fat's to be able to change the color and sometimes taste of the flour. Maybe I'm wrong who knows.

Wife says it smells just fine. Perhaps I just have a delicate sense of smell. :D
